Please do not worry retrospectively. If it did happen, it happened as a result of unknowing, rather than conscious act. As the saying goes, when we know better, we do better. Just commit to being alert to the possibility of this type of exclusion moving forward x

Thank you. I do choose to assume that for many in those rooms - like yourself - it is naivety. Not noticing, it not occurring to them what it looks and feels like to the person being 'othered'.
Still hurts though.
This is why anti-racism must be an active verb rather than a stative one.
Can I ask why this is shocking? I'm not being facetious, I'm genuinely curious. With micro(and macro) aggressions being my norm, hearing things like this from others saddens me but never shocks. I want to learn how it feels to respond as you did x

It hit me hardest whenever there were conferences or briefings for all heads in the borough. In all my time attending NOT ONCE did any head choose to sit with me. If I sat with them, I was ignored. Coincidence? No. This was in 4 separate local authorities over 21 years! #edusky
