Annual VIMS update! We are back in the Chesapeake, processing and sampling oysters from our ongoing common garden experiment. It is so fun to see how these oysters have grown over the past year! I look forward to getting into condition index calculations and analysis soon 🦑🧪🧬 #popgen

The field work at VIMS continues, and so far we’ve counted >18k juvenile oysters for an ongoing common garden fitness experiment in the Chesapeake. Approx. 55k more oysters to go! 🦪

Over halfway done with our fieldwork at the Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences (VIMS), processing oysters from a common garden experiment here in the Chesapeake Bay! I’m enjoying getting out into the water to collect oyster bags, watching as trends emerge in our data, and driving the tractor 🤠
