I've turned these moths into a swarm!
Using a Multimesh Instance and two compute shaders. Ideally I'd use the GPU buffer from the compute shader in the graphics shader but I'm pretty sure it's not possible yet. It's not a topic that's easily accessible.

Shader isn't that complicated either.
The spritesheet was made using a 3D model and animating a camera to take shots at various angles.
