#BucketMouse is different. Loved its playground for days, fed and watered by my visiting youngest. Then they told me it was bait! Bucket mouse got a little nutty. So I let it out in the garage. He's a vengeful critter. He sneaks into my kitchen, eats my fruit, rattles chains. A fair haunting I think

In case you're wondering -feeder mouse got frantic, ignored in the snake cage for days. it began attacking, unsuccessfully. I couldn't stand it. I grabbed it with a towel and put it outside. I was pissed it might hurt the snake, but also hated its madness, and pissed at the damn snake.

No wonder the thought of rereading HOL seems like a comfort to me. It filled my mind when I read it, soothed me in a time of mourning, and prove it really was for ME!

I'm not much more than a #smallfurrycreature myself, wrapped up in a pudgy middle-aged body. I shouldn't have thoughts like these.
I'll only feed the rodents. The kids come down from college weekly to feed the reptiles. And they don't always eat.

"Hey mom, can you watch 4 rats over xmas break?" and they're all still here. But it's 8 rats - 2 giant cages, 4 snakes, and a tank full of gerbils that started to... breed.
The feeder rats are so sweet who decides they become pets? Which mouse goes in the bucket, gerbils' babies are going to be fed?

10-year-anniversary of reading #HouseofLeaves. The book's been creeping up on me, ever since I found out some of the rats left in my care were (failed) feeders. A mouse was left in a bucket to lure a missing snake. Another mouse lost its mind in another snake's cage recently.
