And it’s great because you can slide those tabs out and replace the page OR you can add pages by glueing them to the tabs. Custom A6 notebook complete! It has washi paper covers and the binding is coptic stitch with embroidery floss. I built two ribbon bookmarks and an elastic band into the covers. The pages are 4.5mm grid with a few organistation features. 18 6-leaf signatures, plus fly pages. #stationery #bookbinding

For anyone interested. Yes, the thread adds bulk, not much though. Here it is weighted down with a pickle jar full of buttons to show the compression vs expansion. And yes, the thread is strong enough for a shirt seam, it's fine for book pages.

Working on rebinding my fave (duplicate) copy. Perfect to Hardbound.

Next, to machine stitch them. Default zigzag width, all-purpose serger thread, and tension. I adjusted the zigzag stitch length to maximum. (3mm?)

Working on rebinding my fave duplicate copy. Not seeing a lot of solutions for rebinding glue paperbacks (perfect binding) into hardback so this is what I came up with. First, to separate the sections into signatures.

My hand holding open a handmade book. It lays flat! The pages in this case are made from old envelopes, so one is plain, while the other has the repeating pattern of security envelopes. Ignore my very messy desk in the background plz :)

Me holding the spines up of the six books I made. They're done with Coptic stitch and embroidery thread, and they look super pretty! The ones with green covers are done in pink thread, and the ones with blue covers are sewn with yellow.

My new books spread out on the table. They're covered with different scrapbook papers, three of them with summery green/pink designs, and three of them with vaporwave type blue with neon colors.

And here are the finished books! They're not perfect, but I'm getting a lot of practice. These are made out of junk mail that I've cut up and collated, and the covers are from food packaging. I'm thinking of putting these up in my Ko-fi store eventually, though it […]

A cardboard punch trough from the side. It's got two long pieces of cardboard joined together to make a "V" at a 45° angle, and then several prices of cardboard to keep it standing. There's a signature of folded paper sitting inside it.

my signature of paper, plus the punching guide. I place the signature in the trough so that the fold is located where the cardboard meets, and then using an awl, I punch holes where my guide indicates they should go.

Did a bunch of #bookbinding yesterday, and in order to make things smoother, I made myself a punching trough out of cardboard. It was way easy than I thought it would be, and it makes punching the holes in my signatures so much easier!
