Agree - people ARE complex and no one is entirely “bad” or entirely “good”
My concern too
It’s not just the US - the current NZ government has also lost sight of the importance of fundamental or “bench” science with their funding shakeup. We’ll all “pay” for this refocus in the decades to come. #sciencematters 🧪
It’s important for academics to be trusted sources of information for the public, in fact it’s our duty. One of our most fabulous voices, a taonga for sure, @siouxsiew.bsky.social, needs our support after challenging her employer for not protecting her. #DrSiouxsie #wāhinesupportingwāhine #PledgeMe
Thank you to Chelsea, a fellow cat lover, for letting me ramble about an important topic #NZHerald #ChelseaDaniels #NZMeaslesOutbreak
We’re on a cusp, protect your whānau now. Talk to your healthcare profession about getting vaccinated against Measles, in most cases it’s safe to receive a dose of MMR even if it might be your third. Let’s protect our loved ones who can’t be vaccinated, go herd immunity. #measles #MMR #herdimmunity
We’ll see VPDs down in the schoolyard, thanks to RFK Jr

Nothing says “grownup” more than being excited about one’s new heat pump hot water cylinder and going on to mains pressure.

Rocky the 35kg greyhound, happy for you to share.
Pacific peoples are consistently undercounted in NZ’s population data, distorting funding services and health outcomes. The shift to using existing records to replace the census risks deepening these inequities. www.phcc.org.nz/briefing/reb...
2/2: The risk to equity and inclusion is high with the use of an admin data census with Māori, Pacific, disability, minority, diverse and rainbow communities failing to be well captured in admin data. Cost can only continue to impact the ability to collect meaningful data for these communities.
1/2: NZ admin data allows for useful insights to be made but it is far from perfect. The decision to move to an admin data first census by 2028 is at best laughable. The data system readiness, data quality and embedded bias, & lack of representativeness to name but a few issues.
I hope Ridley was well compensated with treats
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder where the body’s immune system attacks the nerves, affecting about 1 to 4 people per 100,000 each year. It is rare! You need a lot of people to be able to do a study like this one!👇
Look at you being optimistic about it only being two hours of waiting

A chart shows findings on the effect of measles vaccination on the risk of getting sick or experiencing side effects. The chart features two main sections: "Risk ratio" and "Odds ratio," with each line indicating outcomes after vaccination or placebo. The first row highlights that one dose of the vaccine lowers the risk of measles by 95% (or 20 times), while two doses further decrease the risk by 25 times. The subsequent rows detail potential side effects and conditions associated with the vaccine, such as: - Ulcerative colitis - Multiple sclerosis - Inflammatory bowel disease - ITP (low blood platelets) - Crohn's disease - Meningitis - Acute leukemia - Type 1 diabetes Some outcomes, like seizures, show a slight increase in occurrence but are typically brief and non-harmful. The chart indicates that children vaccinated have lower rates of developing pneumonia, while fever and skin rash are noted as side effects that are about twice as likely to occur but tend to resolve quickly.
Data from large studies show that measles vaccination is highly effective and safe, reducing the chances of getting measles by 95%
