I am sure there will be no one thinking that 7.0 must mean it is a bigger change than if it was 6.20 or some kind of major milestone. 😎

Solus and Age Verification
We know the concern around age verification is not going away. Our community asked and honestly deserves to know where we stand. 2 of our core values are transparency and community.

There is no reason for concern. This is what the SLTS kernels, which 6.12 was just made one, are for. At the minimum you will get to 2035 and honeslty likely longer. Lots of infrastructure and industrial are still on 486 so it will be supported for a while. Just not new kernels.
Heya, folks.
We are aware of the ongoing discussions surrounding age verification laws. Privacy and user experience remain our priorities. We have no plans to implement age verification, and will continue to monitor the situation.

Geez talk about the old phrase "when it rains, it pours". All of a sudden, our open-source office suites are at each other's throats. LibreOffice & Collabora and OnlyOffice & the new EU Office fork.
OpenOffice in the back of the room with a smirk.

Big updates for AerynOS, bringing Gnome 50 and LLVM 22, with a bunch of other updates. Happy to see AerynOS continue to march forward. For those that have not checked it out, you should.
Starting my own company and then co-founding another allowed me to use Linux and opensource and integrate into my professional workflow and into what we offered.
Also allowed me to work with a non-profit to teach GNU/Linux to others.
Luckily during my corpo time, while it was not my main job, having a Linux background in the mid 90s allowed me to be considered an expert at a computer company and help teach Red Hat and SUSE classes. At home, I was all into Linux and opensource.
I spent my youth learning HW & SW. Fell in love with the idea of GNU/Linux when I was in my late teens.
Then fell into the corpo-grind for 2 decades, granted getting to teach/work with Linux.
Broke free (16y ago) & started my own company, but still felt held back.
Now back where it feels right!
I have officially joined the Solus team!
There is obviously no hiding the fact that I have really been happy (and outspoken) with Solus and especially the team and community. I will be part of the Comms team!

You know there are decisions that are just easy and especially if you know it is a good decision to make.
Those are the ones I decide to sleep on before making. Why? To make sure that while it is a good decision, that is the right decision for both you and the other party.

CachyOS gets lots of deserved praise, but people forget that the majority of what makes CachyOS is Arch. Without it, CachyOS does not exist. Same goes for many popular Linux distros. This is not to take away from these distros, just show appreciation for where the majority of the work is done.
I see too much misplaced anger over the age verification thing within the Linux & Opensource community. Focusing on devs that could lose everything if they are not cautious instead of the people making the laws themselves.
Trying to help on a solution instead of tearing down people's hard work.
It is wild to see Manjaro #Linux at a fork in the road. I admit, I have given my share of grief over their issues. When you see the why/how they got to that point, is hurts as someone who has worked in opensource for a long time. Hopefully they can turn it around.
