His claim is that anything online is "free to use" and suits filed against people on this have all failed, so it's no problem! He's even suggesting that veteran teachers upload years of lesson plans to help it write new lesson plans for us. I'm so over this.

Sitting as a teacher, listening to a presentation from a young guy who trains people on an internal AI they're trying to get us to use, telling us copyright isn't a concern and we can upload images, pdfs of our text books, and anything available online.

Happy to report that 8th graders of all genders are not too old to play w stuffies. Warms my heart when they drop the posing and just play innocently.

You're totally right about the $$, too. I bought a Sony alpha bc I wanted something lighter to travel with, but I keep going back to the Nikon. πŸ˜…

To be honest, I got into Nikon only bc I apprenticed/interned w a photographer who was all Nikon, but my first cameras were Canon and Minolta! Once I got used to the Nikon, I kept it up out of habit and so we always had the same format.

Love my Nikon and all the glass I've amassed for it over time. It's way harder w Sony and other brands.

Men will say some profoundly unfunny "jokes" then yell "loosen up!" to everyone who didn't laugh.

A lot of teachers are reporting rough interactions w students this school year and especially today as we return from fall break. While I feel for them I'm quite pleased for myself, bc I'm having a smooth day and it just means my strategies and class combos this year are working out. Relief.

So frustrating to engage thoughtfully w someone (you speak with almost daily) reposting misinformation and getting logical fallacy in response followed by "agree to disagree," and straight up ignoring any response after that. They probably see it as "preserving their peace" but it's just lazy.

I have a small business. I make stickers and shirts and things. I fund my banned book drive through these efforts. I am also saving for some upcoming medical expenses.

Meanwhile, Easter is there (twice, because apparently Easter Monday is a...thing?) as well as St Patrick's Day and Cinco de Mayo.

How a Canadian scientist and a venomous lizard helped pave the way for Ozempic - National | Globalnews.ca In 1984, Dr. Daniel Drucker, an endocrinologist from the University of Toronto, discovered a hormone that helped pave the way for popular diabetes drugs such as Ozempic.

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen.

Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying β€œWhy are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !”

Good news from FL - Sen. Rick Scott's voicemail box is full. Keep flooding his office! Not full is senator Ashley Moody's. Her # is 202-224-3041. If you have trouble dealing w people on the phone, weekend calls directly to voice mail are a great way to take your small step!

We can use DNA fingerprinting to study the effects of climate change to an ecosystem or a single species, or even to identify pathogens and map their spread to alert communities to outbreaks. So what's the downside? Mostly privacy concerns and the potential for discrimination or other misuse.

DNA fingerprinting is used to tie individuals to crime scenes, establish family relationships, and to monitor biodiversity. This last one is especially useful for conservation efforts because the presence of a species can be detected without direct observation.

So in the last ~15 years, our understanding of these noncoding regions as evolved from labeling it "junk DNA" to discovering much of it has actual, vital functions (we are talking about almost 99% of our genome). While some parts remain a mystery, we have found that everyone has unique segments.

K's Science Corner:
DNA Fingerprinting is a way to reveal certain fragments of DNA that can be used to identify an individual. These fragments are in noncoding regions of DNA, meaning they don't have instructions for building proteins. A lot of what we actually know about DNA is pretty new.

In order of grain size, you can generally classify rocks as sand, granules, pebbles, cobbles, and boulders. The strata are broken down further from fine to coarse depending on where the size lands within each category. The difference between coarse sand and fine pebbles is just 2mm. #geology
