Delighted to share this song about #Scotland and the #WorldCup from James Ross. Enjoy it! We appreciate his linking it to a fund-raising page for #GirlsEducation in #Malawi - a double win! James has taught at one of the schools we support in Malawi. Nice connection.

We love our relationships with other NGOs doing similar work in Malawi. Medic to Medic supports the education of health professionals in Malawi. Moira (MMF) and Tamsin (Medic to Medic) met up in New Zealand to share experiences, ideas and plans. Tamsin is off to Malawi soon for the next few months.

Happy International Women's Day!
New blog post to let you know about some of our activities coming up to #IWD26 - very important in relation to #GirlsEducation
International Women's Day

What an honour it was to meet the Malawian Minister of Gender, Children, Disability & Social Welfare, Hon Mary Navicha, MP at this event in Edinburgh yesterday. Organised superbly by the Scotland-Malawi Partnership. Great to reconnect with colleagues across the Scottish-Malawi NGO sector.
Coming up to International Women's Day, we are so pleased that @sidcn.bsky.social have published one of our success/happy stories. Girls' education really makes a huge difference - to the girl, the family, the community and future families. #Malawi #IWD26

Lovely that Women for Mission are taking such an interest in our work with #GirlsEducation in #Malawi. Brownies were a feature of an interview by them about our work this week.

Revising our paper leaflet. What a task! Firstly everyone has to have a chance to put in their 2p worth. Then we send to the printers, heart in mouth because of the serious risk of typos creeping in with so much editing and discussion.
Delighted to work with Prontaprint Edinburgh who do a great job

Lovely to have time and space to think together.
Reviewing, reflecting, planning.
Girls' Education in Malawi still needs all our support.
Start of election hustings article... Spokes/CUK Election Hustings #Holyrood2026 Spokes and Cycling UK are holding a joint election hustings, on Monday 16 March, for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election, to hear from Holyrood candidates on cycling and related policies. Rather than the usual hustings approach, which can be rather boring, our meeting will comprise several sections, with speakers undertaking Initiation, Interrogation, Combination, Clarification and Education, as in the agenda below.

We are still looking for you - our future volunteer treasurer!
Tomorrow is International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
Girls must complete secondary education if we are to address the gender gap in Science. We support girls to do just that in #Malawi. Congratulations to those who persevere against considerable odds and to their teachers for their support.

Today is the Intl Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation.
That's the post!
A bit of appreciation and chuffed-ness about the support we get from Scotland-Malawi Partnership and us being included in this anniversary book. #Honour #Gratitude #ImpactOfOurWork

photo of a woman behind a display of home-made cakes on stands
Spent some time today (after a nice bike ride in the 'daylight') working on figures for a wonderful group in #Lancashire. The Lancashire West Methodist Circuit support 6 girls at sec school in #Malawi #Karonga. They also make the most delicious cakes. Say Hi to Dilys - the powerhouse behind it all!
#Education is a #HumanRight, a public good and a public responsibility (UN). In celebration of the role of education for #peace and #development, the @UN set 24th Jan as #InternationalDayOfEducation
We exist to support #GirlsEducation in #Malawi where girls don't get the same opportunities as boys.

Bright display of #KibebeMalawi goods and #Kilombero Malawian rice in the @oneworldshop.bsky.social #Edinburgh this month. Great way to start the year. #Fairtrade really matters. The first thing that Malawians do with income from Fairtrade sales is educate their children. #Education really matters.

Wishing you all a happy New Year, health and happiness in 2026.
#GirlsEducation in #Malawi remains our sole priority.
The possible implementation of this pledge is more complex than it seems on the surface. #GirlsEducation will continue to lag badly. But the sentiment is welcome.

Wishing you all a happy, peaceful time over the holidays, whatever you celebrate or if you don't celebrate but just enjoy the peace of things stopping for a while.
Answers to the questions:
1 - Why should we support girls' education in #Malawi?
2 - Why should we pay for those girls to go to boarding schools?
