thanks for the answer! so the point is you cant reproduce consciousness with math, because it arises from "solving" a complete different problem then and math itself needs consciousness to begin with

Not asking in bad faith here, for real curious: is it wrong to assume that biology aka hardware in their eyes is solving for some kind of problems and the solutions can be approximated by more abstract schemantics based computation?
In a great short essay, @robhorning.bsky.social has some sharp observations on the same phenomenon: «AI slop clips often latch on to news stories and try to show viewers what the news would be like if it could be stripped of its context and presented as maximally engaging to an individual user.»

I appreciated this article by Michael Taggart, on the temptation to use some of these coding tools and the pitfalls, from the POV of an experienced software engineer.
This is why it's important to fight these issues collectively rather than at the individual level.

It looks like it was an april fools joke :S but what a bad one geez
And you're screwed. Here is why:

Trans friends, thank you for being you, and for, when you can, sharing yourselves with a world that is so frequently undeserving of the light you bring to it. I love and support you, always. 🏳️⚧️🫂🫶

Interesting. How do we opt out? is there sth like a robot.txt file for our profiles
In other words, companies like OpenAI do not develop consumer products, but merely launch demos that can be retracted once they've fulfilled their function—never mind that in the meantime, they are flooding our mediascape with a deluge of slop and destroying entire cultural sectors in the process

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a boy is outside at a park unhooking a collar from a large creature mostly out of frame. The boy says, “Sorry, Maggie. Mom says I can’t take care of you anymore.” Panel 2: he continues, “you’re free now.” Maggie is a horrifying winged creature with many legs and teeth. Panel 3: Maggie is flying off into the distance. An onlooker is sitting with his little dog on a park bench. He turns to the boy and says, “isn’t that, like, bad for the environment?”
As a game dev it’s not possible *not* to be scared about DLSS 5: It messes with artistic integrity, it messes with artistic intent, it messes with just about everything game designers made *after* they made it.
The arrogance of NVIDIA is baffling.

One lap and then it starts again. On March 13, at 10:35 a.m., amidst the waves, Arthur (not his real name), a young officer in the French Navy, was out for a run, circling the deck of the ship where he worked. To record his performance — a little over 7 kilometers covered in thirty-five minutes-he used the smartwatch on his wrist. The data collected was then uploaded to the internet. Because Arthur has a profile on the sports app Strava, and it's "public": anyone can view it. The young man has therefore just reported, almost live, the exact position in the Mediterranean Sea of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its escort, northwest of Cyprus and about a hundred kilometers from the Turkish coast, as Le Monde has observed .
truly incredible that strava leaks are still happening after all this time

It is a fundamental problem that the games industry is viewed, and often views itself, as a technology problem

Super sweet! is it realtime or more heavy?
amazing rec, thanks so much
A funny thing happened on the weekend, seems like my AI critical essay from ~2 years ago has hit top google result for said tagwords. I was wondering where the sudden influx of google referrals was coming from. Proud to see it resonate so well.

you ever think about the worlds that were that you will never know?
