New paper by our own Brooke Goodman comparing humans to Merlin Sound ID! Check it out ๐ญ
HEY!!!!
Iโm going to be at AOS in St. Louis presenting my first first-author publication, comparing Merlin Sound ID to point counters in field surveys :) you should come see my talk in Methods & Models 3 on Thursday @ 10:30!
๐จ New paper alert! ๐จ
From field recordings to ecological insights ๐๏ธ๐ณ Our new review in @methodsinecoevol.bsky.social explores integrating #AI into #bioacoustics workflows to improve biodiversity monitoring and ecological inference
Check it out!

Birders: if you never again want to ask "WTH is a WTHA?," check out Goldeneye, an alpha code dictionary (alphacodes.net)! It's also available as a Chrome extension (bit.ly/goldeneye-chrome).
Featuring newly-updated codes, so you can now search for NHWR, AGOS, WECE, ABOW, REDP, ...! ๐ฅณ
Bird #bioacoustics folks: @kitzeslab.bsky.social is hosting a hands-on "Advanced topics in bioacoustic monitoring" workshop at AOS 2025!
We'll make custom sound ID models, estimate birds' positions using acoustic localization, and discuss how to use sound ID results to make ecological insights.
Applications due this Friday, please repost! Feel free to message me with questions about this position, happy to chat :)
That would be awesome! Thanks again Daryll
Hi Daryll! Sounds great to me - thank you so much for asking ๐
Broadly, my scientific interests include habitat restoration, wildlife monitoring, and conservation technology. Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to nerd out about anything ranging from bioacoustics to avian ecology and behavior to marine habitats.

I've also previously worked with restored marine habitats as well. From coral reefs to oyster reefs, I've used bioacoustics to monitor fish and marine invertebrates like snapping shrimp. I also love taking underwater photos.
Hi everyone!
My name is Pat and I'm a PhD student in the @kitzeslab.bsky.social at the University of Pittsburgh. My research focuses on using #AudioMoths to monitor birds in restored forests across Pennsylvania. I also use machine learning classifiers to detect birdsong within my recordings.
This paper is a fantastic resource for researchers doing biodiversity monitoring, especially occupancy modeling. Check it out!
Congrats & thanks to @ben-r-goldstein.bsky.social, @kendallcalhoun.bsky.social, @drpheebs.bsky.social, and other authors :)
So happy to see this group on Bluesky! Thanks for making it.
Would you please add me to the list?
