Bolsa Chica. Had a thing in HB and let myself stop by Bolsa for a very brief time. I had so many amazing opportunities with that young harrier. None of the photos are good. It could simply be that it was windy and I was having trouble holding the camera still. Or it was the fall. Or both.

Saw a bird I like very much. Got excited said bird was flying so close to me. Wasn’t watching where I was walking. Tripped. Fell. Skinned my knees. And maybe hurt my camera. I can’t have nice things. Or knees. I know the Harrier was laughing at me. I could feel it. 😂😭

Just a snowy egret because the ol’ brain is going a mile a minute and I needed to shut it up with going through bird photos. But it’s never “just” a snowy egret I suppose… they’re always pretty fabulous, aren’t they? ❤️
I woke up at 4am yesterday and spent the day walking a total of 16 miles at various birding spots I enjoy. I wasn’t supposed to look at the news all day, but how do you not? And each time, it got worse and worse. I keep rotating from fear to anger to sadness.

Visited Valhalla Cemetery yesterday for the first time since the winds. So many trees fell… including the big stone pines where I’m pretty sure the Great Horned Owls nested. I haven’t seen the Red-Tail pair since all that went down either. But, the Vermilion Flycatchers were reliable as always.
