Thats a stare of emergency for Wellington region. Time to go home and stay home if its safe to do so
It’s getting harder and harder to stay in NZ as things get more expensive and shitty. If I’m finding it hard, my heart goes out to those on low incomes, with insecure housing or with health conditions. Is it so radical to want people to be housed, fed and employed (for those than can and want work)?
If being left behind by ai would mean they would actually leave me alone and not force their ai on me, I would be happy to be left in the dust
Please don't use speaker phone while in library. Ask for headphones at the front desk.

“It may look like a burnt potato, but the professional advice is, you should not try to eat it.” 😂 That‘s not something you read ever day
I hear you! I am glad you recognise all that you can do for them and it’s okay to feel sad and sorry for yourself too 🌷🌻
I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"
I wish someone would take this seriously.
Not good!
I am still attempting to do hairdressing house calls when I can. In an attempt to be professional, I've been using Hnry for the past two years.
If you need tax help with your small business, you can use my referral link and I'll get a $25 credit:

Congrats 🙌
WELL NOW, would you look at that?
A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.
This is a low cost per student way to reduce illness and increase attendance. We should be implementing it in every school and child care centre in Aotearoa.

Had it happen once before (weevils). I reckon it could happen in a never opened pack. Fortunately not common in my experience. Twice seems like some bad luck!
Totally fair enough!

IMO the book is a nice to have but only if and when you want to and are ready. Good that you’re getting space before the viva. maybe find out if there are accommodations you can have for it to help it seem more manageable. good luck!

PhDs are absolute beasts! 🌻🌷
No, she can’t. But it’s good you have someone you like supervising. I know what you mean about feeling like you’re letting her down but 100% she won’t be thinking that (I know, easy to say from the outside!). And she might be able to help you work out options when you‘re ready.
Without knowing your context… it is an option… but it also depends on if that feels like an option. Is your supervisor a good person for support? Mine is and they are the only thing that’s making mine (hopefully) finishable. Good luck working out what’s best for you!
Long COVID costs world’s economy billions: analysis
"Cost to OECD nations up to $135 billion a year"
"The sustained economic costs underscore the potential that long COVID is a “lasting structural change to labour markets and economic productivity,” according to the report."
You would think this might concern people 🤷🏻♀️

Members Consultation Meeting on the new statutory guidance.
We are pleased to invite you to a special online consultation meeting with a representative from the Department for #Education (DfE).
The meeting is open to young people with Long Covid or an overlapping illness, and their caregivers.
A Starship specialist literally detailed alllll the ways this benefit was needed for the parent, and some WINZ case worker with ZERO medical training just went, ahh nope.
Horrific.
Ppl shouldn't need to go to the media to get the support they're entitled to.

Panel 1: A man with a round, bald head wearing a shirt and tie looks up at a starry night sky. His speech bubble reads: "SOMETIMES IT JUST FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE UNIVERSE IS AGAINST ME". Panel 2: The man looks dejected as he stares into the vastness of space. A small speech bubble above him simply says, "SIGH". Panel 3: The man continues to stare at the stars in silence. Panel 4: Massive, glowing letters appear in the night sky, yelling: "HAVE YOU TRIED YOGA?!" The man looks startled and defensive, throwing his hands up as his speech bubble reads, "WHAT NO".

It flows on from this fact that people who are elderly, immune compromised, or disabled, have been left to protect themselves or 'fall by the wayside' and that people are continuing to be disabled by #longcovid
