CONGRATULATIONS to @mountsinainyc.bsky.social's @ebirnbaum.bsky.social on having her recent review paper published!👏Here, they review how neuronal & glial autophagy regulate α-synuclein clearance & spreading AWA discuss what this means for therapeutic development👉 www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Excited to share our review on autophagy in Parkinson's! We review how α-synuclein aggregates evade clearance, disrupt autophagy, and spread between neurons and glia, and what this means for targeting these mechanisms therapeutically.

IT'S HERE ➡️ The first #MSNseminars of the new academic year! On Fri, Oct 17, 3pm, JOIN hosts @veronikakondev.bsky.social & Emily Birnbaum as @weillcornell.bsky.social's Sarah Naguib presents “Harnessing #Microglial #Resilience: genetic & therapeutic strategies across #Alzheimers, FTD & #Parkinsons".
Attention senior neuroscience postdocs: come share your work with us at Mount Sinai!!
Happy International Day of Women in Science. The National Science Foundation’s list of flagged words includes both “Women” and “Female.”
It is indeed my understanding that most research institutions won't survive if this is implemented. I know I will contact my congress and senate members.

Please repost! We’re trying hard to sort out rumors from truth + would like to hear from anyone affected by the new federal orders + NIH pause. Patients, scientists, health equity researchers: please contact us below. We won’t share anything without your permission. www.statnews.com/2025/01/25/t...
Heard from inside the National Cancer Institute, part of NIH — travel through April is canceled. Purchasing with government card is frozen. All public comms are off limits. Can’t even submit abstracts to future meetings. Can’t submit *manuscripts* for publication. All hiring activity frozen. Fuck.
Most folks do not understand how far in advance the planning and logistics of NIH grants take.
We prepare for months or years for these submissions for one of 3 cycles per year.
This study section cancellation delays grants by at least 6 months when study sections are cancelled.
Real science:
1. Is not correlated with the amount of funding
2. Progresses slowly, usually taking many years
3. Leads to more questions than it answers
4. Advances when we disengage & in improvisational discussions
5. Is too important a thing to be done in a non-playful way
Excited to share my first first author preprint! #neuroskyence
