Celebrating new work from our friend Alina @alinamarinca.bsky.social and our director Alice @alice-gregory.bsky.social showing sleep anxiety as a central link across childhood emotional and behavioural symptoms. @jakketamminen.bsky.social

New paper!!! 🎉 I am very happy to share our paper published in JCPP Advances! 🎉
Our findings suggest that targeting specific sleep problems, such as bedtime anxiety, may improve interventions for children’s emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Huge congratulations to @alinamarinca.bsky.social on behalf of us all at @sleep-rhul.bsky.social We’re delighted for you!
We spring forward this weekend, but changing the clocks is increasingly controversial - why?

Wonderful testament to the ongoing commitment of the TEDS twins that we have received funding for a further 5 years.
Strong review connecting neuromodulators, sleep disruption, and Alzheimer’s pathology—plus some excellent figures. @alice-gregory.bsky.social @jakketamminen.bsky.social alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
Enjoying attending the UK #Insomnia Network Inaugural Event in #Oxford @oxsleepmed.bsky.social Hoping to forge new collaborations with @sleep-rhul.bsky.social
We know that #chronotype has been associated with #mental-health - so we looked to see whether it was part of the P-Factor. Congrats to @juanjmv.bsky.social JuanJo Madrid Valero for winning Best Paper 2025 (Institute Catedra del Sueno) academic.oup.com/sleep/articl... @sleep-rhul.bsky.social
🤩It’s #WorldSleepDay –a great day to share a new publication from a project involving members of our ECSM team, including lead author Dr Katrina Tse.
💤They introduce a comprehensive sleep questionnaire to the UK Biobank, with 185,000+ participants providing data🧵1/2

As someone whose sleep has been affected by neurodivergence, hormones, mental health challenges and pregnancy, it felt empowering to bring my intersectional voice to the project.
What would be your priorities for mental health sleep research? 💤
@circadianmhnetw.bsky.social LEAP member Dylan shares their thoughts on the project's final body clock, sleep & mental health research priorities.

On #InternationalWomensDay, a reminder that sex differences in sleep emerge from puberty onward — yet women’s sleep remains chronically under‑researched. Sharing an excellent deep‑dive on women’s sleep 👇 @alice-gregory.bsky.social @jakketamminen.bsky.social pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
Cats prefer sleeping on their left side, because it optimises lateralised brain function on waking so they are ready to make mischief. My cat, however, sleeps belly up. Always somewhere toasty and inconvenient www.sciencefocus.com/science/the-...
A new study shows 77% US teens aren’t getting enough sleep, driven by a worrying rise in <5h sleepers (16%→22%).Its a trend we’re also tracking in the UK with our AdSleep study. @beckcrowley.bsky.social @jakketamminen.bsky.social @alice-gregory.bsky.social jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
A huge thank you to Dr Liisa Kuula @helsinki.fi for coming to share her fascinating research with our Sleep Lab yesterday. Great to hear all about clocks, sleep and cognition! ⏰😴🧠 @jakketamminen.bsky.social @alice-gregory.bsky.social
This year @beckcrowley.bsky.social will represent the lab at #CNS2026. Don't miss her poster about adolescent sleep and learning on Sunday! If you're not going, read all about it below:

Wonderful to get to hear about exciting developments at the #Sleep and #innovation summit in #Edinburgh. With thanks to Amy and Danny for making this happen @circadianmhnetw.bsky.social
A big announcement! 📣
Our paper: "Research priorities for mental health and circadian science: a priority setting partnership of individuals with lived experience, carers, clinicians and researchers" has been published in BMJ Mental Health

Two plots labeled A and B show polygenic scores and sleep phenotypes in adolescence. Plot A: Sleep duration, sleep onset latency and midpoint. Plot B: wake after sleep onset, sleep onset latency > text@20 min, insomnia symptoms, daytime sleepiness and naps.
Adult sleep GWAS-derived polygenic scores demonstrated comparable associations with corresponding sleep phenotypes in #Adolescents, suggesting genetic influences on sleep persist across developmental stages.

Genetic variants identified in adult #GWAS may be relevant to #sleep phenotypes in #adolescents. Great work by Katie Lewis! @sleep-rhul.bsky.social @rhulpsychology.bsky.social
