Oregon is stepping in while the federal government steps back, but gutting a federal agency that holds the biggest banks accountable means we will all pay the price.”

The CFBP has gotten over $21 billion in consumer relief for working families in the past two decades – and now, the federal government is trying to abandon their responsibility to hold big banks accountable.

AG Rayfield takes action to protect consumers as federal government steps back

Oregon and a multistate coalition are urging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to continue its work fight for working families. The CFPB is considering a plan that would severely reduce staffing, weaken their ability to oversee banks and other financial institutions and hold them accountable, and reduce financial relief and protections for working families across the country.

The federal government is walking away from its responsibility to protect consumers – and the states are taking action.

We’re working with a multistate coalition to urge the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to scale back its plans to reduce staffing and weaken enforcement.

Today, AG Rayfield announced an agreement in principle requiring grocery chain Albertsons — which operates in Oregon as Albertsons and Safeway — to pay up to $773 million to address its role in the opioid epidemic. We helped lead the multistate negotiations. Oregon will receive up to $38.2 million to fund addiction treatment and recovery programs across the state.

BREAKING NEWS: AG Rayfield secures critical win pausing Nexstar/Tegna broadcaster merger

BREAKING NEWS: AG Rayfield secures critical win pausing Nexstar/Tegna broadcaster merger

“Oregon families depend on local news to stay informed about their communities — and that’s exactly what’s at stake in this merger. Today’s ruling is a critical step toward ensuring that Oregonians don’t lose the independent local voices they rely on. When one company controls too much of what people see and hear, the public pays the price.”

Today’s ruling is a critical step toward ensuring that Oregonians don’t lose the independent local voices they rely on. When one company controls too much of what people see and hear, the public pays the price.”

What happened: In a big win for Oregon, a federal court just ordered a pause in the merger of broadcasting giants Nexstar (which owns KOIN in Portland) and Tegna (which owns KGW). The court issued a preliminary injunction, meaning the merger cannot continue while the case works its way through the court. Oregon and a coalition challenged the merger because it would raise costs, cut jobs, and centralize editorial choices, harming Oregonians.

Attorney General Rayfield and Coalition of States Win Trial Against Live Nation and Ticketmaster

Today, AG Rayfield and a multistate coalition won a lawsuit against Live Nation after a jury found that Live Nation and Ticketmaster violated federal and state antitrust laws by eliminating competition and driving up costs for fans, artists, and venues across the country. The federal government reached a settlement with Live Nation in early March, but the states rejected the settlement and continued litigation — and won on behalf of working families.

The federal government reached a settlement with Live Nation in early March, but the states rejected the settlement and continued litigation — and won on behalf of working families.

“When a company gets this big, competition dies – and everyday people pay the price,” said Attorney General Rayfield. “Oregonians who bought concert tickets through Ticketmaster were overcharged. When the federal government chose to step back and allow it to happen, Oregon and other states stepped up and took this on because working families deserve to know every company is playing by the same rules. Today’s verdict shows that accountability is still possible.”

Most importantly: access to reproductive healthcare – including abortion and contraception – is fundamental, and we will use every tool available to defend access to this care in Oregon.

"Access to reproductive health care — including abortion and contraception — is fundamental. For years, Oregon has been a national leader in protecting that access, and the RHEA reflects that commitment by ensuring people can get the care they need through their health coverage without barriers or out-of-pocket costs. Our office will use every tool available to the state to defend access to abortion and Oregon’s Reproductive Health Equity Act, including appealing this decision."

Today, a federal judge ruled that the Reproductive Health Equity Act cannot be applied to Oregon Right to Life, finding that it violates its religious freedom rights under the First Amendment.

How this scam works:
•	Scammers find people who have pending workers’ comp claims. The scammers reach out by phone, email, or social media, pretending to be a government agency or law firm. Some even set up fake video hearing.
•	The person is told they have “won” their workers’ comp case – but they must pay money into an account before getting their full benefits or settlement.
•	After depositing the money, they never hear from the scammer – or see their money – again.
