We're doing a fundraising drive for one more year of librarypunk. Hosting and recording costs money, and we'd really appreciate your support to keep the show going. Everything we make will continue to be free for all, but we wanted to offer ways for people to show their support.
Volume 3 from JOERHE is out!
Excited to share @cjalrcbu.bsky.social special issue, Libraries and/as Extraction, that I co-guest edited w/ @mauraseale.bsky.social @librarianrafia.bsky.social & Karen Nicholson - see our intro: cjal.ca/index.php/ca... & the full issue: cjal.ca/index.php/ca... #Libraries #AcademicSky #CritLib #OA
@zotero.org is my most favorite tool for organizing my dissertation. I’ve got a folder for each chapter and sub-folders for every section of each chapter that anything gets cited in. So useful! Good luck on the proposal!
Jimmy Kimmel just DESTROYED Donald Trump’s entire administration. 🤣
Thank you for sharing your slides! I was moderating another session, so I’m glad to be able to view yours when I can!
So grateful for this published response! Sharing it everywhere, hope it gets widely read and discussed. Thank you, @librarianmer.bsky.social! #critlib
My College & Research Libraries News article about the terrible cost of open offices (a response to
Steven Bell's pro-open office propaganda in the same publication) is out! "Neither open nor equitable" crln.acrl.org/index.php/cr...
[share widely!] CFP on Libraries and/as Extraction for a special issue of the Canadian Journal of Academic Librarianship
Proposals due Dec 18, 2023
More details here: cjal.ca/index.php/ca...
The original article was little more than propaganda and the exact opposite of anything even resembling equity. @librarianmer.bsky.social’s response is excellent and grounded in research. I’ve never wanted to work at Temple, but this really just adds to it. Forced open workspaces is a deal breaker.
WOOO the Conference on Academic Library Management (CALM) has opened their Call for Proposals for the 2024 conference! www.conferenceonacademiclibrarymanagement.com/proposals
Colleagues: if you think about leadership through the lens of critical hope, what conversations would you like to have with other library workers?
What if sabbaticals were recognized as being for rest instead of productivity, and were available in every field? 📚 📜 #tired
And then I revisit Vocational Awe and the work of @fobettarh.bsky.social and remember these feelings are valid, our needs are real, and no amount of passion or empathy from frontline staff will solve systemic issues at the top - especially if we’re not allowed to talk about it.
