Tutkijat selvittivät Suomen eliölajiston muutoksia 1800-1900-luvuilla. Esimerkiksi hirvi, supikoira ja harmaahaikara ovat olleet laajemmalle levinneitä kuin aiemmin on tiedetty.

Finally, this is published. The article explores the use of digitised historical press data as a valuable resource for biodiversity research. Although a few typos slipped into the published article (despite thorough proofreading 😅), it is still a nice paper! doi.org/10.1007/s105...
The Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation awarded me a one-year research grant for my personal project entitled "From Admiration to Hatred: the Shared Past of Barnacle Geese and Humans in Finland". Many thanks #wihurinrahasto!

Tutkijamme @ottolatva.bsky.social on selvittänyt, miten suomalaiset ovat suhtautuneet punkkeihin ennen ja nykyään.
Punkkeihin liitettiin 1800-luvulla erilaisia uskomuksia, joista yhden mukaan puuvilla kasvaa sille korkeudelle, jolle punkki on puraissut nuorta neitoa.

The link to the news: yle.fi/a/74-20134759 It is good that the problem has been brought up because the material shown in the news report is not pleasant to watch.

Well, now this has happened #fishfarming #animalhistory

Eilen oli vuoden viimeinen työmatka. Visiitti Pasilassa Kalle Haatasen haastateltavana. Keskustelimme Lohikäärme-kirjastani, jonka SKS julkaisee näillä näkymin 12.1.2024.
Johtamieni HumBio ja Fauna et Flora -hankkeiden kirjoituksia julkaistiin tuoreessa Auraica-lehdessä journal.fi/aur. Harri Uusitalo kirjoitti Carl von Linnen Suomenmatkallaan käyttämästä kielestä ja Heli Rantala teki FaFFe-hankkeen esittelyn, jossa myös juttua hirvistä ja majavista.
