Two questions (or future article ideas?!)
Any games from your childhood that you now realize were a much bigger deal among you/friends at the time, than they actually were in the rest of the world?
What are your personal experiences with competitive gaming?
Agree. If it's offsides, "give the guy another try at the breakaway" does not make any sense as a ruling. Should've gone with a 2 minute penalty.
Mighty No. 9
my funny barometer was to always show my post to my small child and see if they laughed at it
Milhouse getting visibly upset watching an episode of Itchy & Scratchy (& Poochy), as he shouts, "When are they going to get to the firework factory!?"
My dumb brain was reading that book thinking "When are they going to get to the house of leaves?!"

jon bois words of wisdom still hold true
Yeah, I played each as they were new. The first Bioshock was like a top 10 game for me at the time, and the hype machine for Infinite was so strong. I thought I was going to get the greatest game ever.
It was still fun, I just rode that hype train too long and felt so let down.

Bioshock Infinite (360)
I loved Bioshock 1 & 2! I had to buy this right away!
And then… I was kind of disappointed with it. I may have enjoyed it well enough if it wasn’t carrying the Bioshock legacy, but that’s how it is.
I flipped the cover to the alternate backside art.
My daughter told me today about a game she plays while in the car. She imagines a guy running along the side of the car, jumping over the buildings & cars we drive past.
Glad to see today's kids imagine the same things we did. That running guy got me through so many car rides when I was little.
wait what why did nobody tell me this

I enjoy the Lansing Common vibes too, but you’re not wrong here!
Gonna have a bad time
Let’s Go Red Wings
The team may not be good lately, but maybe some eyebrows are or something
30 years ago today, Principal Skinner purchased fast food to disguise as his own cooking at an unforgettable luncheon with Superintendent Chalmers.
#TheSimpsons episode “22 Short Films About Springfield” first aired April 14, 1996.
acteually fucking dying at the tas-only strategy for doing a shinespark here it's like fuckin white rabbit of inaba shit
Aww, what a wonderful little pal that is.
Every darn time, the same path down the dark side into failure
Ah, Red Wings, you've disappointed me for another year.
Luckily I have their successes from many many years ago to remember. But each consecutive year they screw up like this, it gets progressively more frustrating.
I expected something Amiga, but not this much Amiga
and hey, it's that voice sample that's also in the Chrono Trigger Brink of Time arrangement album
Oh, I absolutely remember this video. This made the rounds a lot. Probably watched this 50-100 times. I briefly wanted to get good at shmups after this, but put my focus to other "difficult" games.
Also, you've got me wondering what the iconic videos were for other genres back in the low res days.

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (PS1)
When I bought this, my receipt said “Tenchu: Stealth Ass”. Wish I saved that.
Uh, this game is awesome? Music slaps, stealth is super fun, voice dubbing is pure 90s, levels have good variety and are fun to explore… I want to play this again now.
I was not familiar with the terms donjara or ponjyan until I saw this today! Thank you both!
i don't understand why they landed integrity in the middle of the ocean. if i were them i would just land it at my house
Mo Seider with 5 points tonight. First 5-point game by a Red Wings’ defenseman since Reed Larson on 2/27/1985. Yes, something Nick Lidstrom never did
More erased-from-history than we ever could have imagined!
