Same area, but now with the pressure visible: longlines, ropes and other fishing gear litter entangling gorgonians and covering the seabed. Chronic ghost fishing and structural damage that we urgently need to address.

These semi-enclosed European seas appear to have specific zones that "collect" larger amounts of macro-plastics, thereby affecting species such as marine mammals, seabirds, and sea turtles.

🗑️ As plastic represents the most common type of marine litter, these scientists expressed concern about its impact on marine life globally, particularly in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

Individual plasticity in response to rising sea temperatures contributes to an advancement in green turtle nesting phenology | Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences Phenological changes (i.e. shifts in the timing of biological events) are among the most frequently reported population-level responses to climate change and are often assumed to be adaptive and incre...

temperatures.

1️⃣ They highlighted the importance of examining individual-level phenotypic plasticity, as well as various factors like age and breeding experience to better understand the animal's ability to adapt to water temperature changes.
