It's tough being #autistic
The part of my brain that likes to be thorough says go left, because I have to check that path for accessibility (and I know it's fully accessible)
The part that likes to do it's own thing says go right because it's more fun.
It really is a tough choice 🤣

I HAVE to be DOING SOMETHING when I'm on the phone (quite often it's pacing the room, and stairs, and passage etc

Word of the morning is ‘williwaw’ (19th century): a sudden violent squall or a toppling gust of wind.

Goes well with ‘thunderplump’: a sudden downpour that soaks you to the skin in seconds.

Not one little bit
Decent layering, windproof or waterproof shell, merino base/mid layers, good gloves, a buff and a skully, lights and reflective bits. Tyres appropriate to the conditions.

What's the biking equivalent of 10,000 steps a day? The phrase 'gotta get my steps in' has become part of everyday life. But what if there were a simpler, faster way to meet your daily activity needs?

For me it's a combination of enjoying the sense of motion from being balanced on 2 wheels and the sense of freedom because I'm not encased in a metal/glass box stuck in traffic.
Majority of my journeys are utility but I can easily add a bit of fun or adventure if I wish.

I've seen a teenager cycling with a cello case on their back (I assume there was a cello inside of course)

All About Autistic Shutdowns: A Guide for Allies - Reframing Autism Autistic individuals frequently experience stress and overwhelm as part of their daily lives.Simply navigating a culture and environment that do not align with their needs can be a source of constant ...

Autistic shutdowns are a response to stress. While some autistic people may stop responding entirely, others who usually speak may only be able to say one or two words. If someone stops responding in their usual way, that may mean they are in shutdown mode.

Very interested
I was diagnosed just a few years ago, in my mid 50's
I socialise but have my limitations. Always seeking a sense of belonging but often struggle to fit in.

A photo of a gorge with a stream containing reddish water, surrounded by mossy stones with colourful leaves on them. In the background there are trees to see. The stream continues under right into the viewer - as it was photographed from in the water. One yellow leaf in the foreground is some kind of anchor in the composition.

Every year during autumn I try to visit this gorge in Austria.
It's known for its reddish water - especially after heavy rain falls. Here there was a light rain all day and this brought out the colours even more.

Too cold to cycle?
Not for these kids, enjoying a nice winter ride through Rising Sun Country Park. They've learned how to prepare for the conditions and learned the importance of good cycle control

Many autistic people have intellectual disability. It's important to remember that, for them, "Support is not about deciding things for someone; it’s about empowering them to do what they want to do. It’s giving them the tools to build their own best life." From John Marble et al:
