On this day in 2014 I helped plan a Midsummer Night's Masquerade for teens (as a teen myself) and even wrote a murder mystery for it. I should see if I can find that script; it was a ton of fun to do! I also want to try to find a way to plan such events for my community now. We need that, I think.

Honestly the only reason I still use Snapchat is for my grandma's snaps. Getting pictures of her garden or her nature walks or other family members she's visiting is exactly the dose of positivity I need these days. Just got a snap from her that was just a photo of a weird strawberry. I love her.
My partner and I have also started using tone tags out loud, inspired by an online friend/romantic interest of mine who regularly uses them. So we'll say things like "I'm such a weirdo. Positive." or "I'm mad at you for being right. Lighthearted." We're autistic and shit with tone so it helps.
Patting myself on the back for this thought: "Wow, I am a massive weirdo. I must be an absolute delight to the right people."

Anyway, I was thinking of this because I'm going through my closet. I gained a lot of weight this past year, and I expect to lose some of it in the next year or so. Anything I can *reasonably* see myself fitting into by then is going in storage. Anything I can't is getting donated.
I was holding myself to a body standard that is possible for some people, but is impossible for me without doing severe damage to myself. I refused to accept the impossibility of it. Surely I can do everything able people can do...internalized ableism was harder to unpack than the ED.

6ish years into recovery, Ive gained such insight. Between medication, PCOS, and mobility issues, the only way to be the size I had been was to starve myself. A lot of recovery was accepting that. It's an intersection of ED and ableism that doesn't get touched on a lot if at all.
