This some kind of idol I see
What would the wafting breeze

When I'm perplexed
by life hurling stones,
I rifle through them
for calming jade

then decline
all the sharp ones
I can—
throwing them back.

Still some
jagged edges tear,
& those scars
I wear proudly,
like stylish tattoos
inscribed on my soul—

so I won't forget
I survived.
