We have never felt unsafe here in our small town or when we go into Mérida. Some places in Mexico that we take precautions in and we had friends move out of Mazatlan due to feeling unsafe. Generally though that would be the same kinda precautions I would take in areas of Los Angeles 😊

We looked at there as well when first looking in 2018 but chose here for the ease of going to the Caribbean for diving. 😊

We like it. Financially it was a great decision. I do miss some food and family as well but easy enough to travel home to visit. It is quiet and slow but we enjoy it.

We do live in a Privada. There are 30 houses and 5 or 6 are expats. About half the houses can speak some English which is a bonus. But I am deep into learning Spanish.

We live in a small town called Conkal. It is about 10 minutes outside of Merida in the Yucatan. Close to the beaches 😊

We moved from Canada to Mexico in 2021. We moved due to aging and not wanting to deal with winter anymore. A great decision and we have made some good friends here. This country is lovely and the people are very welcoming. #canadianabroad #canadianinmexico #mexico #travel #beaches #palmstrees
