My lab’s major NIH grant was among those blocked in the attack on UCLA. Because our lab website discusses inclusivity? Because this grant had a diversity-based supplement? Simply because I work at UCLA? Who knows. Feeling a strange mix of unsurprised, furious, and numb.
Glia folks, I will be presenting a poster tomorrow (07/10/25) at Euroglia in Marseille for the #GLIA2025!
I will talk about how lysosomal status can regulate microglia phenotypes during aging.
Stop by poster T05-089C and say hi!
For the second time, I had the amazing opportunity to co-direct Pint of Science in the US with @claudiaratti.bsky.social and Johannes Jahan. I couldn't be prouder of all the volunteers who made this possible and grateful for our sponsors to trust us.

Some news about last week: I am deeply honored to receive the 2024 Waxman Family Drive Award from the Waxman Family to initiate groundbreaking research on Alzheimer’s Disease.
And coming from a family impacted by AD, it means a lot.
I would love to join this group!
Freshly joined this platform and I love what I see here. I’ll be sharing some of my works about microglia! Stay tuned!
I love this! And would love to be added too. Thanks for doing this
Thanks Shane for this! Just moved from Twitter/X and love to see the glia community here.
