I love being a 2nd class citizen who continually gets asked by station staff when passenger assist goes wrong - "did you book it?" No, of course I didn't book it. I figured my telepathic message to the station staff a minute before I arrived would work. Twats!!

On the Derby train. Guy refusing to pay for extra upgrade cos his employer gave him standard discounted ticket for 3 hours time. Just been made to leave the train and also told to stop swearing. Always check tickets bought by your employer!!

I am officially on holiday. Starting it with coffee, carrot cake and a large Gavi di Gavi at Carluccios in Manchester Piccadilly. Their carrot cake is the best.

I have signed up for the excursionist writing pledge at @gywo.bsky.social for 2026. That's a habit pledge to write 180 days in 2026. I managed to meet that pledge both this year, and last year. It really does help to keep on writing, and the spreadsheet is a thing of beauty.
