doing habit vs word count for #gywo is legit a game changer for me. Encourages me to do more plotting versus screaming and plowing through my stories.

I have signed up for the excursionist writing pledge at @gywo.bsky.social for 2026. That's a habit pledge to write 180 days in 2026. I managed to meet that pledge both this year, and last year. It really does help to keep on writing, and the spreadsheet is a thing of beauty.

Writing at work and between errands isn't conducive to wordcount, but maybe I will have more luck with a habit pledge for #GYWO next year? I have two almost finished drafts that need heavy editing, which counts as habit writing! (Landroid and sex pollen fic, I want you out in the world by january..)

Such a treat to be a part of the 80’s themed Get Your Workshop On 2025 hosted by the incomparable @alisonmellomath.bsky.social together with her amazing team who worked tirelessly for a year to plan this event for us all. It was a day full of math, learning, laughs and pure joy!!! #GYWO #GYWO25

I am doing the pledge habit this year with @gywo.bsky.social. Mine is the excursionist, which is to write 180 days in one year. I'm already over my target for the year so far. If it carries on, I expect to hit 180 by the end of Oct. I've also written 154k words so far, which is nuts!

#gywo 13k of my hoped-for 16k written in january is not bad! (yes i am counting my ten-page document of story outlines. lotta blorbo words in there.) now let’s see if i can make more progress on hamster balls docx

For the first time in several months, I’ve actually gotten words down!!! 👏🏼 600ish so far (trying not to think “only”) for January.
I’m still going to work on getting more down before the end of the month. It’s for an old Steve Roger bingo prompt. One I’ve been trying to write for a long time. #GYWO

Managed to crank out about 1200 words today. Rewrote and actually finished a ficlet I started about 10 years ago, and I wrote about 800 words on a new Fey story I'm working on. Also updated my @gywo.bsky.social habit tracker. Only need 3 more days this month to hit my pledge target.

I joined the wonderful #GYWO Get Your Words Out community and have committed to creative writing activities 180 days of the year. Of course I want to finish my novel, publish it, start another. But the habit-establishment part is vital. I'm trying to treat writing like it's a job. It helps. #P2PPit

Something about committing to being an ‘Adventurer’ on #GYWO, and putting in #writing work for 300 days out of this new year, has me too nervous to do anything else. But I can’t function if I feel like I’m chained to the keyboard when I don’t even have inspiration. I think I’m going to just chill.
