"In the place of problem-solving technology, companies have jumped on successive bandwagons like NFTs, the metaverse, and LLMs. What these all have in common is that they are not built to really solve a market problem. They are built to make VCs and companies rich."

There is a large military base (r) and a repair facility outside of Novocherkassk, near Rostov. Both could have been struck or the nearby railroad:

A hundred years ago, the U.S. had a nationwide network of short-line railroads that connected most urban and rural communities. By the 1940s, most of it had been dismantled ... by the barons of the auto and oil industries. 😑

An additional benefit of reducing individual automobile use is reducing the need for asphalt (a residual product of petroleum refining) and all the synthetic materials (made from petroleum or natural gas liquids) that are used in car bodies (including EVs) and the tires (tyres) they run on.

Meanwhile, Tuapse oil terminal is still burning. It's a massive facility including the refinery component, but without air defense the Ukrainians can keep beating on it until it's completely destroyed.

I would take anything Zelensky has to say about this very seriously.

The Russians don't have to be effective only destructive: their goal being to distract from failure vs Ukraine.

Ukraine's kinetic sanctions are working. Trump has done nothing but make himself irrelevant.

By continually siding with Putin, Trump surrendered what leverage- or influence he had at one time with Kyiv.

😅 Russian voenkor "Rybar" began to whine that Russia was losing all the progress achieved in over a year in the offensive near Zaporizhzhia.

Advantage of AFU in drones and operators plays a big role.

Drone strikes on Russian columns in the Melitopol area have also become more frequent.

Cracks appear in Putin’s regime as internal dissent and economic woes mount The system built by Russian President Vladimir Putin is showing its first visible cracks, with signs of discontent surfacing among even loyalist bloggers—especially over escalating internet restrictions. Russians, long accustomed to bans and censorship, are losing patience, writes BILD editor Mark Oliver Rühle . “Many believe the crackdown on the internet has gone too far. Meanwhile, the Kremlin is working to calm them, claiming restrictions are needed for security in its war against Ukraine and that the situation will soon improve. But there is no end in sight to the conflict,” Rühle reports. Notably, a growing list of prominent figures have strayed from the Kremlin’s official line. Even high-profile influencers are openly criticizing Putin: blogger Viktoria Bonya, who has 13 million followers, claimed the Kremlin chief isn’t being told the real state of affairs in the country. Her remarks forced a response from Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, who insisted work is underway to address the nation’s problems. “For the first time in years of war, it feels as though the Russian regime stands on the threshold of internal rupture,” says political analyst Tatiana Stanovaya. Criticism is also coming from the pro-war camp. Pro-Kremlin blogger Ilya Remeslo branded Putin an “illegitimate” leader who has steered the nation into a dead-end conflict with Ukraine and demanded he be put on trial. Remeslo was subsequently committed to a psychiatric facility for 30 days. Meanwhile, Russia’s Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov has admitted the country’s economic reserves are “largely depleted,” and that the macroeconomic outlook is more challenging than in previous years. In addition, for six consecutive weeks, Russia’s state sociological service has reported a drop in Putin’s approval ratings.
