From Allegan County, MI, looking north along the Lake Michigan shore. With an east wind & clear skies you can see the JH Campbell coal-fired energy plant, about 25 miles away. Consumers Energy says they're shutting it down this year. They say they have "a plan to restore the site over time."

I'm working on scripts to automate posting of timelapse videos from this spot along the shore, near Wau-Ke-Na, the William Erby Smith Preserve in Allegan County, MI. I'm using a #Reolink camera and #raspberryPi hardware & operate a weather station here. I hope to put out an #allsky camera too.

Unique geography makes for challenging wind measurements

Wind readings are tricky here along the Lake Michigan shoreline. A west-to-east wind blows over 100 miles of open, unobstructed water before hitting the shoreline and the 30' elevated bank.

We've see some big changes lately at Scootercam Worldwide. We moved from our previous web host to a virtual private server. The new setup gives us much greater control of the server's setup, but we broke a few things along the way.

The old Scootercam is moving to a server farm upstate.

Scootercam 2.0 is now on a Virtual Private Server through Hostinger. There's a lot to reconfigure, so expect a mess for a while. Quite a few scripts need to be tweaked; some rewritten completely.
