Who else in #Crew96 world didn't realize that there's a game today? Just me?

There's a part of me that wonders about just going to the stadium on game day, and waiting until about the fifth minute to see what the secondary market prices look like.
Then I realize that the commuter rail for these games will cost $100 to take, instead of the $20 it normally would.
Oops. I missed that Sebastian Berhalter did get some first team appearances with #Crew96 in 2020. Gregg still did not, though, so this is still an asterisk on the list in my books.
Thanks @eliotmckinley.com for the catch on this :-)
Mobile launch tower?
I'm tagged in this post and I don't want to be...
There he is... ten minutes of action is better than nothing, I guess.
This surprises me... maybe keep them fresh?
I don't agree with this choice, but I guess it would be a thought process.
Yeah, the Berhalters and Wolffs both belong as footnotes to a list like this, IMO
There'd be two asterisks on this list:
- Owen and Josh Wolff
- Sebastian and Gregg Berhalter
Both parents were on the coaching staff, while the children were academy products - but none of the four made a first team appearance for #Crew96 as far as I can tell.
Owen Presthus is the ... second? ... instance of a #Crew96 father-son duo to have appeared for the team in club history?
- Owen and Tom Presthus
- Konrad and Robert Warzycha
I'm trying to remember if there have been others.
Picard! Make it so, twice! #Crew96
Seconded. Give him the second half, or at least half an hour, in relief of Gazdag.
Great to see, and a long time coming. We had a few of those crosses earlier that went begging to an empty left flank, so it was a relieve to see Picard actually coming from the far flank on that sequence, and not trailing centrally.
That might have been the best attacking look we've had so far? Great run, good ball control, and took the shot quickly.
Does it seem to anyone else that #Crew96 players are having trouble keeping their feet on this field? Wondering if cleat changes might be in order at the break.
Is that a sign of how far Gazdag's stock has fallen, or an indication that the announcers didn't do their research? Did they acknowledge Gazdag's DP status? I didn't hear.
One good sign for #Crew96 tonight: there was no pre-game graphic from DraftKings showing that we were the favorites to win.
(Yes, I'm reaching. Can you blame me?)
I'm a sucker for the Open Cup, but given the league results I'm hoping we play our bench and see whether anyone is ready to step up.
Part of this, IMO, is collecting data now to help guide the decision-making. A big part of that is obviously seeing how players do in practice - but ideally we'd also be specifically rotating playing time around the entire roster.
Damnit, this is going to wreck me at 9:30 AM on a Saturday morning.
Rather at the end, with the capsule already on the surface, right?
But wow, I wonder if this feels more frustrating. They're done! Landing over! And yet they can't open the door yet.
NASA was able to predict the landing location precisely enough that we're getting _how many_ live camera shots in these moments? They predicted the blackout time, and the splashdown time, to within a minute.
We can do so many great things when we dedicate our labor and minds to it.
I've really, _really_ enjoyed having those cameras on the mission. Hoping we get more things like this on future missions.
Just queued up "Within a Mile of Home" in the background to help get through this...

I will not hold my breath... I will not hold my breath... I will not hold my breath...
Yep - I'm so used to seeing the Apollo capsules blackened, and with bits of ... yellow material? I never would have thought that we could see a reflection off of it prior to reentry.
Holy crow, that third image. Does the heat shield for #Artemis really start that reflective, or am I misinterpreting it?
It is a little surprising to me that both ABC and CBS are devoting an hour of live coverage to the #ArtemisII re-entry.
The mission deserves this kind of attention, so I'm hardly complaining. I'm just not used to space getting attention at this level. It feels appropriate, and I'm glad to see it.
The phrase I always remember is that you want to avoid "regretting at leisure a decision made in haste".
I'm generally in favor of Columbus getting an NWSL team. But if it truly is a good thing, that will still be true if you proceed thoughtfully.
I'm not fluent enough in Catholic history to distinguish whether this is Avignon Pope territory, or if this is repeating "Charles VIII sets up the Church of England because he's pissed at the Pope" territory.
Neither of these is a good place to be, but they do feel different.
