Over-use of dialogue tags and adverbs tends to draw attention away from the actual content of your dialogue. If you need to say in every case HOW someone said something, then consider that perhaps WHAT you made them say wasn't interesting enough.

I read Airplane Mode by Shahnaz Habib a few months ago (Thank you @septemberbooks.bsky.social ) I found it compelling, witty, nuanced & devastating on the many ways that colonialism is embedded in the experience of travel. I think it is a must-read. #books #travelwriting #creativenonfiction
