You have to admire the high effort of FMV games like Mansion of Hidden Souls (Sega CD), even while you lament the lack of engaging gameplay. This roughly 7-room "mansion" is 97% proto-walking sim, > 2% adventure game, & < 1% puzzles, & I #JustBeatIt. Nothing to recommend

Strikers 1945 on ps1 gives you a run for your money. Gives you a state of mind that you are in for a easy time and quickly shuts that down with bullet hell mechanics. Never got past level 6 in my teenage years but now I can say I beat it. 5/5 awesome shmup. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social #justbeatit

Yakuza Kiwami 3 keeps the main story intact, mostly, but completely changes up the side content. If you aren't interested in game gear games, obscure Sega arcade games, and running an orphanage on the beach, then you may want to skip this one. I enjoyed it. #justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

My understanding of VVVVVV, that it's a platformer with a gravity flip mechanic instead of jumping, sold this game extremely short. Now I understand why it's an indie darling: it's terrific with a banging soundtrack! I #JustBeatIt & am anxious to find the last trinkets.

#justbeatit Sheepo. I discovered this short metroidvania thanks to @indiequestpod.com . Fun abilities and platforming and I’m cool with no real combat. The controls were a bit unintuitive at times and the map wasn’t the easiest to navigate but otherwise a fun jaunt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.38 The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (NSW). What a fantastic game! My son and I thoroughly enjoyed using the Echoes to try and find solutions for all the puzzles. Exploring and combat is a lot of fun too with loads of stuff to do. Highly recommended!

This was a pretty good NES game. The one has a great visual style, pretty good weapons, and some cool weapons. The one thing I didn’t like in this one was how you had to keep destroying random blocks to find the exit in each level.
