Just a reminder that @maramadavidson.bsky.social tried to get this across the line here, but it got killed by NZF

Your interview with PTFO filled me with hope and giggles
Our family lived here, on Wright St in #Wellington #NewZealand, for 4 years. Those are my neighbours. Anyone in a position of power or influence you hear on the news using the word ‘unprecedented’ deserves…opprobrium. At a minimum. #ClimateChange

Can I enrol to vote in #NZ?
YES if you are 18 years or older, a NZ citizen OR resident for electoral purposes, and lived in NZ for >12 months or more.
Resident for electoral purposes = you’re living in NZ lawfully and aren't required to leave within a specified time.

Several officials told me that Patel’s drinking has been a recurring source of concern across the government. They said that he is known to drink to the point of obvious intoxication, in many cases at the private club Ned’s in Washington, D.C., while in the presence of White House and other administration staff. He is also known to drink to excess at the Poodle Room, in Las Vegas, where he frequently spends parts of his weekends. Early in his tenure, meetings and briefings had to be rescheduled for later in the day as a result of his alcohol-fueled nights, six current and former officials and others familiar with Patel’s schedule told me. On multiple occasions in the past year, members of his security detail had difficulty waking Patel because he was seemingly intoxicated, according to information supplied to Justice Department and White House officials. A request for “breaching equipment”—normally used by SWAT and hostage-rescue teams to quickly gain entry into buildings—was made last year because Patel had been unreachable behind locked doors, according to multiple people familiar with the request.
Depriving Trump of high quality underlings by stigmatizing association with him has been very successful www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
Bear suit insurance fraud, people. Bear suit insurance fraud.
I’m sorry he got so blackout drunk they had to ask for SWAT door busting equipment?!
it’s rather infamously not an actual quote from the Bible
I am personally shocked to hear that the person behind SantaCon, an annual mob of the most obnoxious drunkards from the Tri-State area that takes place in Manhattan, allegedly defrauding his donors out of over a million dollars. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/15/n...
Personally don't recommend these. As the article notes, these properties are typically achieved through PFAS, which can shed carcinogens in your home (which you then inhale) or come out in the wash (polluting waterways for decades). Will try to do a thread on how to treat stains in the wash.
ICE had 6 fucking vehicles at my local courthouse in Massachusetts this morning. They're here and they're terrorizing people. Just because the tactics have changed doesn't mean their impact on our communities has changed.
The Massachusetts Senate needs to pass the PROTECT Act ASAP.
Democrats have likely ousted the Republican mayor of Whittier, a California city of nearly 90,000 (within Los Angeles County).
The Congresswoman's U-lock game is double-trouble strong.

The same week the NYTimes was devoting its significant resources to producing this ridiculous piece about Lauren Sanchez Bezos's call for rich people to not worry and be happy, Ryan Hass, an independent journalist in Oregon, was investigating this horrifying story about a death in an Amazon plant.
If I were Lord Governor General of the Dictionary, I'd decree that every interview guest on every radio show, podcast, and television transmission who starts an answer, "Yeah, so..." would be forced to instead start it with "Hwaet..." or pay an initially modest but geometrically increasing fee.
The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world.
#Orban has conceded. He wouldn't have—except that his Fidesz party lost to the Tisza party by a SUPERMAJORITY. Tisza with #Magyar is projected at 137 out of 199 seats in parliament.
Yesterday Trump posted of Orban, "I AM WITH HIM ALL THE WAY!"
True. Come November, you & your whole #GOP, big guy.
Orban is out!!
