How lucky to live and work in a place that offers such beauty.

Gorgeous day in San Francisco. But also: loving Analogue Pro Camera app and the filmic quality of photos it produces…

An incredible love letter to the place I’ve worked at for almost 20 years, and a very perceptive portrait of a city that is as beautiful as it is complex. Worth your time.

This whole thread is gold and I’ve learned a lot! 👟👞🥾
Nice! I’ll watch when I have some time
Me too!
Front side of a round bag made with scrap fabric that has been quilted into a star pattern. The background is bright yellow, and the star various shades of blue. It has an adjustable strap made of webbing.
Back side of the same bag. The pattern here has horizontal fat stripes alternating between yellow and three shades of blue
I am modeling the bag, showing the front side, sling across one shoulder
And now I am modeling it showing the back side, which has an external pocket. My hand is in the pocket and for some reason I have a goofy expression on my face
I sewed this cool quilted bag! It turned out great and it’s going to make for a good gift for a special person. And best of all, it was all done with scrap fabric!

What is the fabric is you don’t mind me asking? It looks light and cool but not stretchy, which would make it easy to sew for me… ☺️
Also I think your doggo should be in all your photo shoots 😄
Or… hear me out: use snaps and you have tear away pants! 😂
First attempt at a small quilting project to make the Orbit bag from @helenscloset.bsky.social. I like it! It reminds me of making origami in a good way.

I love it, yes! I myself am just starting a small quilting project and am making heavy use of the walking foot for that! May your t-shirt forever fit perfectly henceforth
If you wanted to you could use the twin needle setup for the whole shirt, but I prefer the look of the “regular” stretch stitch for the other seams, and just use the twin needle for topstitching the hems and collar. It’s worth having the needle and it comes in handy for hemming pants too!
Close up photo of a stretch twin sewing needle in its box, set on a wooden surface
For the hems and collar I switched to a stretch twin needle set up (like in the photo). This works *great* for knits, and the stitch is stretchy so it will tolerate my head going through the collar. I actually had to adjust the tension up a bit with this setup.
A close up of a sewing machine number pad that controls which stitches are programmed. Number 4 is a stretch stitch, which looks like a narrow lightning bolt
For the regular seams I used a stretch needle and a stretch stitch — it looks like number 4 in this photo on my machine
I don’t mind sharing at all! Until this shirt I struggled mightily sewing knits too, and found it very frustrating. Things that helped with this one: I got good Gutermann thread; I used a walking presser foot; I lowered the tension slightly to about 3 (from 4)

A me-made t-shirt I just finished in my favorite color. It fits! It’s got a collar! It’s hemmed nicely! And I didn’t have to fight the sewing machine and fabric because I finally nailed the alchemy between walking foot, stretch needles, and tension. 😌
Thank you! I was a bit confused at first because the other shirt I own with angled French cuffs has them cut the other way, with the cut off corner at the top, but these came this way… next time I think I’ll invert them
Oh, amazing resource! Thank you!
They’re called French cuffs in English… but maybe it’s like French fries and it doesn’t actually have anything to do with France? 🤪
Those snips look badass… are they available for purchase?
Love this… as a new sewist and a climber I would love to make my own climbing pants! #sewing #garmentsewing #sewsky community: are there resources to find climbing specific patterns?
