Now that this picture's done, I want to refocus on learning the human figure. I think I'm running out of steam with Sonic stuff right now, and the lack of progress on learning people has been bugging me.

I'm fairly happy with this piece on a technical level. The lineart is closer to where I want it to be, the posing is more interesting than my usual, and the perspective is mostly fine (a couple of the hands excepted, along with Whisper not standing on the right part of the floor).
"Well, the way I heard it is playing on wi-fi's fine if you're close to the rout- WHOA WHOA WHOA, CALM DOWN, SQUINTY!"
The Surge and Kit podcast (name still TBD) runs into a snag while having Whisper on. Hopefully no one dies. #SurgeTheTenrec #WhisperTheWolf #IDWSonic
And that should be all the lineart for this picture. I'll do the colors and lighting and all next time. I'm pretty happy with how Whisper turned out, though man is her design weirdly complicated for how simple it seems at a glance. And her gun, goodness gracious.
I think I'll take a break from actively practicing fighting games for a while. It's starting to feel like a job again, which I really don't want. I might still play them from time to time, but I won't be specifically trying to get better at any.
Hey seriously, literally in the bills it says they'll also use identifying information, such as your age data for "other purposes". That means your data goes into a government surveillance database. This would be for ANY *OS*, which is the thing your fucking PC runs off of.
Call your reps NOW.
Continuing on with this picture. Hands continue to plague me, and at this point I just don't want to keep working on a character I don't like very much to begin with.
Today's session of Guilty Gear was short, but at least the hand pain wasn't so bad this time. I even won the set I played, which was nice.
Lineart is happening. I'm surprised at how much I like how this is coming along, but I have been trying specifically to improve my linework, so hopefully this is a sign my work's paying off.
Much like yesterday, today's session of Guilty Gear was cut short by my hand bothering me. I gotta figure that out. At least I felt all right about how I was playing while I was able to.
Continuing on with this picture, now getting ready to do the actually detailed part. I plan to do that on a separate layer from this sketch, so I turned the sketch red so I can tell what's what later on.
Today's session of Guilty Gear was... cut short by hand pain. : (
Still, the games I did play were fun, and I got some practice with adapting to my opponent's behavior mid-match, so that's something.
Continuing to work out posing and such. I'm glad I decided to keep things loose and low-detail for now, I ended up reworking my original idea pretty heavily. I recently heard that it helps with posing to start at the part of the body bearing all the weight, and I think there's something to that.
Today I decided to check out the new Guilty Gear Strive patch. It seemed fun, but the connection problems are still there. So I got some practice in with Plus R and then messed around in Killer Instinct for a bit since I wanna pick it up again. Arbiter seems cool, I might give him a real go.
Today I played a set in Street Fighter 6 with a friend. I won more than I expected to, but it's been a *while* since either of us played this game seriously, so I don't think it counts. Especially since I still don't quite know what I should be doing with Alex in this game.
A sequel to a drawing I did not too long ago. I spent several hours reworking the background, *and then* I started sketching out the action. Not my smartest move. Also, man is it hard to figure out how to draw Sonic characters throttling each other. There's no necks for their hands to wrap around.
Today I decided to go back to Plus R and do some execution practice. I don't have the mental energy for actually playing someone, and I needed to get some rust off anyway. I definitely needed it, my performance was dire.
It's been a tiring day for me.
I lost motivation for the previous drawing I was working on, so this time I've done a quick and silly drawing of Hank the Chog drawing his sword from a stone while Monica the Mongoose takes a picture. I needed to remind myself to have fun with drawing.
Today's session of Street Fighter 6 saw me actually go online to play other people. I didn't really have a coherent gameplan, so naturally I got obliterated. But when I got to do things it felt fun, so that's something.
Back at this picture again. Mostly making smaller adjustments this time, I was fairly busy today and used up my brainpower on other stuff. Still, the little details matter, and I want to get them right.
Today I decided to actually boot up Street Fighter 6 again to give Alex a go. He does feel pretty fun, but I can already tell it's gonna be a good while before I get the hang of using him.
More work on line control. This time felt better than other times I've worked on this recently. I'm glad for that.
Spent some more time looking into the SF6 version of Alex today in lieu of practicing. Geez, this guy's got a lot of tools for how few of them I expect will be useful.
It's been one of those days.
Today I decided to do some research on a fighting game instead of playing one. Specifically, I decided to get an idea of how Alex plays in Street Fighter 6. He does seem pretty fun, so I'll have to see if and when I can spare the money for the DLC.
Thank you!
Today's the first day of Passover, so here's the start of a drawing to mark the occasion. Surge is there as a follow-up to the Hanukkah-related picture I drew, Knuckles is honorary Jewish in the movies, and I've got nothing for why Blaze is here.
Today's session of Guilty Gear was... fine. Not great, not terrible. Honestly, I'm mostly just happy I was able to get myself to play today.
More line control practice today. I think it's coming back to me, thankfully. Next time I really want to do an actual picture again.
