Now you’re temping me. 😫 I’ve never commissioned art of my boys before. But the art is so good. Maybe TOO good to pass up.

I love writing psychological horror, but I’m hoping my next project will delve into the botanical/plant horror genre. I enjoy reading gothic horror, plant horror, and psychological horror the most. Can’t pass up a good ghost story either. 👻
If I have any luck, I will! 🫡
I loved Whistle! I’m on the hunt for a book like it.
Y’all are gonna get me emotional 🥲
DONNIE DARKO X THE EXORCIST
Chris has been plagued with seeing shadow people, but an encounter with a powerful shadow, known as The Hatman, leaves him possessed and desperate to exorcise the entity attached to him before he loses control.

You know me. 😎 Hat Man versus Jae… in a sexy-off. Hmmm… time for another AU.
Oh look, it’s my top bunk mate. 🎩 Please keep your hats on your part of the bed. Between the both of us, I think we’re overrun with shadow entities in the cabin.
2, I’m PST so mornings definitely wouldn’t work for me haha!
This looks amazing! The art is killer!
Love folk horror films. Gotta crack into the books on this one!

My most recent horrors have been CG Drews You Did Nothing Wrong, an eerie haunted house story with a mom who DEFINITELY did something wrong. 🫣
And film wise, Whistle, was my weekend watch! They really nailed the vibes with this one, it was grungy, atmospheric, and gay. Vibes.
One I haven’t seen. 👀 Thank you for the recommendation! Not foreign, but I’m looking forward to Undertone and Hokum this year!
K.A. here. I've always been drawn to things that make my brain go ohhhh.
I started with fantasy but made the switch to horror. I feel like the most innovative, writing in trad pub is coming out of horror currently. I want the freedom to be strange, dark and weird.

Hi cabin mates. 👋 I’m new-ish to writing in the genre, but I’ve seen too many horror flicks, at the point people tease me that it’s “quantity” over “quality.” I love plant horror and anything with small-town, gritty, PNW vibes. 🌲 Outside of writing, I’m a marketing editor and an EDM festival goer.
Dare I do this to myself a second time…? I call bottom bunk. 😏

Since it’s so different, not usually. However, writing the au really helped me learn about my characters and understand them in ways I don’t think I would have if I never wrote it. Like a crash course in all things character personality!
Boy do I?! I’m my characters #1 fan, so of course I have a word doc verging on 70K of a college au. Genre and tone are so different from my main manuscript though, it’s mostly indulgent fun. I’ve also been known to add friends characters into my au as well. With permission, of course. 😉
I feel the potato with a laptop and plotline comment. I’ve heard that if you can relate to the book somehow “my character is an architect and I went to school for architecture” could give you some legitimacy. OR just fall back on “I live ___ with partner/children/pets and I enjoy ____.” 😂
This could be totally personal preference, but learning more about what goes into an agent ultimately sending you a rejection even though they liked your concept and query package. Is there an “IT” factor agents are searching for? Or is it a spark that’s different for everyone? 🤔
I think that means you truly know yourself and your stories. 👏 That’s so commendable.
