I’ve been asked how to structure and write short stories by members of my #CampRevPit #CRPWizardWasps cabin and other #WritersofBluesky recently. The most common piece of advice I’ve seen to that end is, read a bunch of short stories first. That’s great advice, but it doesn’t answer the question.

Emerging from the hole my pressure migraine had me in to say thank you to everyone in #crpdamselflies and #camprevpit for making the past few months so special. Hoping to keep talking to and exchanging work with so many of you as we cheer each other on! Community is invaluable and I adore this one.

I'm mostly working on TTRPG stuff this month... I'm starting two Monster of the Week playtests and thinking of compiling some of my personal stuff into for sale packets.

One of those is using Tolkien as inspiration for modern eldritch horror. The other is sci-fi.

I lean in to "Superhero with Fangs" so there's often a moment when the antagonist realizes they're trying to prey something or someone that's far more dangerous than they are.

Sometimes I like to hide it from the protag (or even the audience) as well... "WTF" for everyone...

Once I have established the plot & character growth then I focus on the ending. I always have a hint of where everything will lead but I prefer staying in the dark until I no longer need to.

#CampRevPit is done but I hadn't updated my bingo for #CRPbrimstone so here it is! Slightly annoyed that I didn't have a training montage and didn't get to the part where my MC escapes death but I'm very happy with the progress I've made for my main and side project 🤭🤗
