Sadly, the local television stations themselves want to end it. They make a lot more money if you watch them on cable or YTTV, etc. About $25-30 of monthly cable bills are retransmission fees that go to the stations. They're pushing ATSC 3.0, which would leave most people unable to pick up signals.

When I posted the Earth shot from Space Cowboys I couldn't see the photo (I can now). Aside from that it's been OK. Maybe some residual weirdness from the other day? π€·ββοΈ
Corporate interests are doing everything they can to kill free over-the-air television and force everyone to pay up.

Richard Nixon!
Just saw this on my start page. Haven't actually read it yet, but I assume there's some info on the Evil Dead thing here.

I guess there's a lot of audience overlap. π
Hopefully it will get good reviews. I recall Campea saying he didn't like the Final Destination movies but he really liked the one last year. So you never know.

This is a dance-off. If you see this, repost with a dance or get eliminated.
I always got a kick out of Gamera, especially at the end when kids would wave and yell "Gamera! Gamera!" And, of course, his gymnastics career. π
We'll see when the movie comes out this summer. π
Kaiju (but make it haiku)
Giant turtle fly
Protector of all children
Gamera his name
Is that an ACME walker?
These dumbasses are entertaining. I just wish they could entertain without destroying everything.
Hasta el final.

Virtually all 1950s science fiction is a lot of fun.
Never having been a big fan of Michael Jackson's music, I haven't been planning to see this. But I'll probably catch it on streaming for the performances.
I find Michael's life very sad. He was robbed of a childhood by his father. I figure that led to whatever the truth about the later allegations.
It's a shame that most young people only know the Ben Stiller remake of The Heartbreak Kid. Grodin was absolutely outstanding in the original. A truly wonderful black comedy. But it's nearly impossible to watch because of a frickin' pharmaceutical company.
I might go with either The Stratton Story or the original Angels in the Outfield as my favorite, but the best baseball movie ever made is Bang the Drum Slowly.
In a way, Conquest of Space was a prediction of the 21st Century. Religious fanaticism sabotaged the mission. Now it has sabotaged the entire country.
Claudia Cardinale!
I had not seen Shin Godzilla until its theatrical re-release last year. It was totally a film about bureaucracy!
Yeah, Spielberg would have grown up with the Burr film. On the other hand, so did I (and you know how much I love Perry Mason and thus Raymond Burr). But Gojira is much better!
Seemed a bit odd that he would pick that instead of the original Gojira, but I guess there must be something to it. I need to remember to look for something about that. π€·ββοΈ
