A lovely quote from Paninnguaq Boassen doing her PhD project: "I’m surveying how researchers disseminate their science to locals in Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland). At Arctic Station I have learned, that everything is possible if you have good people around and a base that feels like home"😊

♨️ Greenland’s thermal springs are mapped for the first time by a team effort. Arctic Station has contributed with archived & new data. An example of how historical records, modern satellite data, and local knowledge jointly reshape our understanding of the Arctic.

The ‘Seasons of Change’ project, working at Arctic Station, unites science, local knowledge and storytelling to amplify Arctic voices in Kalaallit Nunaat. Changes highlighted through lake-sediment cores. @helenmort.bsky.social @iestynbarr.bsky.social @kirstenseesternc.bsky.social Kathryn Adamson.
On the return from a research trip to Disko Bay, Greenland with colleagues from quaternary science Dr Kathryn Adamson & @iestynbarr.bsky.social working with @kirstenseesternc.bsky.social at @arcticstationucph.bsky.social - so much to process from another humbling encounter with ice and place.
Today we spotted two #Bowhead whales ((Balaena mysticetus) right outside the station at the sea ice front. The majestic Greenland right whale are special for #Disko_Bay and their singing is captured in real time by #hydrophones and broadcasted as part of the diskolive.com/the-animals#... project.
A helicopter view of Arctic Station for a new group of researcher that arrive yesterday from #Ilulissat. Perfect flying conditions which certainly have not the the case for while. The #DiskoBay ice cover is breaking up and allows for maritime transport as well. #Qeqertarsuaq
We have had quite a number of scientists at the station since late March and through out April. The weather is indeed changing color and mode all the time making fieldwork a challenge. The snow buntings seem not to care.
