I saw a lot of first-time 'e-bike smiles' at the weekend's @cyclingelectric.bsky.social Demo Day, but no bike nor trike delivered like vanRaam's Fun2Go - a specialist vehicle designed to be a 'social tandem'.
These are excellent tools for care projects.

But, but the ball might hurt a car.
I wonder what the plan was for people actually shopping, at a supermarket. Do you load the bike with it vertical?
Fascinating how if you look at a shopping list on your phone whilst walking along people actively try and collide with you as some sort of punishment for not looking where you are going.
Never happened with shopping lists on paper.

4 runners seen side by side running down the middle of the road. The road is quiet and safe because it is in a low traffic neighbourhood
Two kids cycling side by side down a quiet road within a low traffic neighbourhood. Other cyclists oncoming in the distance
‘Quality of life’ isn’t a big house, luxury goods or a fancy car. It’s being able to cycle your kids on safe streets or run side by side down peaceful roads with your friends. Everyone can & should have this.
If you are a Councillor, please watch this.
It happened nearly 50 years ago in the Netherlands. The arguments against restricting traffic were the same as those made today and were proven to be wrong.
Many cities would greatly benefit from a circulation plan.

Active travel: health, mental health, financial health, cost of living... Active travel is a social justice issue. We can't wait for governments to make changes... it may feel scary at first, but the benefit of active travel far outweighs the risk...

In the Netherlands, cycling is part of everyday life at every age. Children cycle to school, adults use the bike for work and daily errands, and older people continue riding well into later life. It is not unusual to see people in their eighties or nineties still cycling around.

Stops squeal in the rain 👍
Cars are parked on both sides of the bridge in 1980. Today there are no cars and tourists stand in the road taking photos

Maybe you are more hopeful than me. I suppose it depends on whether the cycle lane becomes one way because of pressure. Would ruin the whole point about cycling out of town though 🙁

Spa cycles tourer leaning against a cafe table. Bright orange Ortlieb panniers on the rear. Bright sunshine.
Fifteen rural miles for work today, and the weather is a mixed bag. Loaded the panniers up with rain gear and headed out. Holy Communion and a pastoral visit. Bicycles are the best way to travel short distances and the health benefits are awesome. Also: the fuel tastes great. Cake!

I will never vote for a politician who equates being successful with making lots of money.
I spoke too soon 😐
Good Cafe Hope episode on the inspiration behind the Empty Chairs movement and how it is helping tackle loneliness. Love the simplicity of this idea.
In pubs across the UK, volunteers in bright orange hoodies wait at tables with a few chairs left free for anyone who needs it to sit down and chat.

With no drop kerb to get back on the road, I guess it really is the end.

During the 1970s oil crisis, the Netherlands 🇳🇱 realized car dependency was a trap and built world-class bike infrastructure.
The US 🇺🇸 just invented "Right on Red" to supposedly save gas and accepted the pedestrian casualties.
Two approaches, two very different outcomes.

Financial ones now too
Millions of people ride bikes in the Netherlands every single day and it works because everyone follows a set of unspoken rules most visitors (and expats) don't know exist.
