When Oil Gets Expensive, Cities Get Better
When Oil Gets Expensive, Cities Get Better YouTube video by Not Just Bikes

During the 1970s oil crisis, the Netherlands 🇳🇱 realized car dependency was a trap and built world-class bike infrastructure.

The US 🇺🇸 just invented "Right on Red" to supposedly save gas and accepted the pedestrian casualties.

Two approaches, two very different outcomes.

Millions of people ride bikes in the Netherlands every single day and it works because everyone follows a set of unspoken rules most visitors (and expats) don't know exist.

Fietshangar broke down the 4 rules that keep this cycling nation running smoothly: buff.ly/CMix9qo

Wheels4Me London is a ground-breaking scheme offering free cycle loans for disabled Londoners whose needs aren't met by most standard bicycle hire schemes.

We offer:

- Loans from a small fleet of adapted cycles including
electric trikes and handcycles

- Free delivery

So if I understand this. It has cost £13,000 already, and this could have been spent on disabled children (for example).

Shropshire Council to remove unauthorised flags following safety concerns Shropshire Council has confirmed it will remove unauthorised national flags from street lighting columns across the county.

The council is collaborating with Shrewsbury Town Council, Shrewsbury BID & the police to develop a new funding bid. This initiative seeks to explore a locally designed flag project involving young people, intended to celebrate pride in Shropshire through a safe, inclusive & fully authorised scheme.

Think we’ll just stay cycling in the road next time.
What footway?
I don’t want to dismount and walk in the road either. #WhyDontTheyUseTheCyclesLanes

Too many drivers see road safety rules as a personal affront. It’s time to tighten up UK laws | Sally Kyd Two court cases last month illustrate how confusion over legal definitions are feeding into a culture of poor driving standards, says law professor Sally Kyd

Many drivers see speed limits, cameras and enforcement as personal inconveniences. We must communicate the concept that driving is a responsibility, not an entitlement. This means a conversation that centres victims, rather than complaints about 20mph zones

I’m surprised to see nothing here about the feet. I transitioned to barefoot shoes a few years ago and it has been the answer to balance problems as well as other issues.
