From my observations protests at synagogues have been labelled anti-Semitic and thus counter productive. Similarly that applies to any other places of worship.

That's part of my point. By attacking mosques, legitimate protest and grievances are labelled as "anti Islam" and the crux of the argument against the government is lost.

My original post was specifically that some Iranian protesters are burning down/vandalising some mosques. Places where people worship, most likely regardless of political persuasion, people go to pray.
It marginalizes people who are religious but not supportive of the Ayatollah.

Let's break it down. You are Ok with public & religious sites being targeted for destruction & damage because they belong to the Iranian regime. I'm saying specifically to places of worship - targeting them is counter productive as they are perceived sensitive spaces. Replace mosque with synagogue?

The "regime" is always used to describe unfavorable governments. Hence the quotes. I bring up other nations bcoz we've seen many times how the US have shoved democracy into countries only for their interests.
