I was washing the car outside my house when the Gulls went nuts and I realised it was right above me, Just managed to run in and grab the camera in time.

Sustainable wildfowling has taken place there for centuries. This raffle has happened every season for many years and is part of the BASC ran permit scheme. Also Brent aren’t a quarry species so ‘’these very birds’’ aren’t being shot at all.
I think its pretty crap to be honest don’t really like how it works and there’s not much on here compared to X. As far as politics is concerned this has quickly become the left wing echo chamber Twitter used to be which I’ve personally no more interest in than some of the right wing crap on X.
Nice close flyby at St Mary’s island this afternoon of what I think is a juvenile Long Tailed Skua.
Aye righto.
Or maybe shooting and conservation often go hand in hand and the reason the moorland association are making such a big thing about Curlew is Grouse shooting is under attack from the very people who claim to care about Curlew yet the facts show Grouse shooting does far more for Curlew than the RSPB.
Looks good for Nightingale to me.
Skylark and Dingy Skipper at Whitburn this afternoon.
A nice wonder round the Academy this morning.
Fair Isle Bird reports from 1999-2019. I think 2019 may have been the last hard copy produced.
1. Dear bird folk, I am hoping to sell some of my lovely bird books and annual reports. I am open to offers.
Images attached in the hope that someone out there may be interested. Would folk mind reposting for me in the hope it reaches as many people as possible. Thank you. 🙏🏻 #BirdingGear
Spoonbill at Druridge pools, Makes a change to see one feeding and flying around instead of just standing asleep.
Great White Egret at Druridge pools this morning. Also drake Pintail and my first Chiff Chaff of the year. No sign of reported Spoonbill. #NEbirding
Glaucous Gull at Boldon flats, Iceland Gull at NSFQ and Water Pipit at St Mary's today.
Iceland Gull still around the fish quay today, Viewed from south side of river.
Whitefront at Boldon Flats this afternoon. #NEBirding
Took these at the Customs house this afternoon looking across to Royal Quays. I see both Iceland and Glaucous reported from there. Not sure if all of these are of the same bird or not or whether they are Iceland or Glaucous? Any thoughts anyone?
A memorable day for north east birders.
Little Auk at Whitburn this morning.
I’ve seen Ravens in at least 4 different places in the North East this year alone without trying. Not being able to get a bus and be certain of seeing them hardly makes something mega rare.
Working again for me too.
My Birding NorthEast tab seems to have stopped working altogether?
Twite in the dunes north of Druridge pools and Scaup at east Chevington today
Snow Buntings, Whooper Swans, Pinkfeet and an intersex Mallard all from Whitburn this morning.
Mixed Duck flock at Whitburn this afternoon, Velvet Scoter, 3 Common Scoter, Tufted Duck and Teal.
A few shots from my favourite place yesterday.
Spotted Flycatcher, Goldcrest and Chiff Chaff the best I could find in Roker park this afternoon.
I’m no expert but many Coots we see in UK each winter migrate from other countries.
Not from distance or when legs are under water. I know they don’t look great but as mentioned already anyone who has handled birds knows how much of a neck is just soft feather which makes these collard look much worse than they are.
But isn’t the point that you only know it doesn’t go anywhere because you recognise it every time you visit because of the collar?
