This Act is a complete stripping of many of the protections of the Ali Act. It's in essence a complete neutering of the Ali Act

@lukethomas.bsky.social called it that this would happen. Say goodbye to the Ali Act ostensibly.

I will never shoot down statements like this, only applaud them.

A lot of ppl over on twitter are all of a sudden in the “fuck Jon Jones” train while some of have been on that train for well over a decade now.

Props to the real ones who have kept that same energy.

Jon Jones exemplifies the UFC: did some cool things but is ultimately scummy and a detriment to society.

Muhammed Ali has got to be a strong contender for "coolest dude in the 20th century". close to the top of any short list.

note that I'm not saying he was the best or most important man of the century, simply the coolest.

Japan's Masaaki Noiri just made a HUGE impression in front of a roaring crowd by upsetting Tawanchai at #ONE172.

Not only was Noiri the biggest underdog of the day, he did it in the Saitama Super Arena in Japan, as well. #kickboxing

Disingenuous clowns like to forget that police were beating and disappearing protestors of genocide WHILE BIDEN WAS IN OFFICE

They literally spent all spring and summer sending cops and gangs of Israeli thugs to beat up students.

"Sport" is rich

I agree for sure but unfortunately looks like the oil money is too appealing for pretty much every sport these days, they've even got the snooker now, a deep evil part of me wishes they'd buy my beloved, struggling rugby league side lmao

The fan in me is glad, but for as much as I slate the IOC in Judo etc, they have had no option but to threaten this in boxing, the only sport where the amateur game is equally or even more corrupt than the pros, we've had 3 separate governing bodies in 3 olympic cycles, somethings gotta give soon

Andy Souwer parries Masato's front kick with a sidestep, circles around him and lands a leg kick, beautiful footwork.

🤼Back with sumo. Don't see a ton of foot sweeps in sumo, but this kekaeshi from Tobizaru was real slick.

I agree to a certain extent that boxing needs reform but the idea that the man who genuinely believes powerslap will be a thing is the man to save it is laughable

So I can't see a world in which glorified prospect fights for a fake world title matter, how are they gonna increase prestige in a sport with a history this long? They may be able to get a Canelo for one fight to hype a card, but boxing already lacks upcoming big stars, can't see this making them

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

The other issue I would forsee is that they're gonna have to bet on upcoming prospects big to push the brand.they're not gonna be able to attract the biggest stars as they're likely happy in their exclusive, lucrative deals so who is left? World title fights generally don't do big numbers as a whole

"Evolving the current model" simply means keeping all the money and exploiting the athletes. Everyone involved in this venture preys on the desperate and the hopeful.

This league will succeed because of deception and anti-competitive practices, and it's no mystery why they waited until now to begin

Turki's whole thing is that he's willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money, and Dana's whole thing is that he's not willing to spend any money at all. Interested to see what the middle ground here is.

So a company that pays fighters like shit and can't seem to make the Heavyweight champion fight his interim wants to revolutionise the sport of boxing and eradicate ducking? I can't see a world where every other agent in the world of boxing doesn't bury this immediately, bring back WBSS

I hope everyone involved in this gets both a computer and a sexually transmitted virus

Is it time to bring the Premier League and English Football League back together? The Premier League's formation in 1992 was the last radical change in English football. Do we need such drastic action to save the game now?

Club bosses in the EFL & PL seem united in misery. They moan about money, agents, media, fixtures, the regulator. There are no easy answers but I think the answers get easier if the EFL & PL were united under one body again. Football is better together.
