So fun how that red pops out from the landscape and makes the photo work.

Why Photographers Don’t Get Modern Art It’s understandable that the great unwashed masses of the larger population might not appreciate contemporary art. But you’d think that photographers, who

This topic came back up in conversation again recently with a friend. I really struggle with most modern art, and I always go back to this article which helped enrich my perspective. Well worth a read for all artists and photographers.

This was such a special spot. Far down a dirt road that wound back into a dead end valley - there were a few huts with more than a few cows lazily grazing. About 15 minutes walk from the end of the road there was a pristine lake nestled at the head of the valley. #norway

Now, re-add it and use it exclusively. Facetime is still accessible via Contact cards, but they're buried very deep now.

Be especially careful on returning recent calls via the recent call history and which option you're selecting when initiating a call. If you're like many, you probably have not been using the dedicated Facetime app. after they surfaced Facetime in the normal call flows.

... while burying Facetime so deep it's functionally unusable. If you're not very careful you/loved ones will end up with a hefty bill for international calls that should have been Facetimes.

Heads up for international @apple users: Some massively shady dark-pattern behavior from Apple in a recent update. If you're keeping in touch with friends/family abroad and rely on Facetime be super careful. Apple has buried the Audio/Video options forcing users to standard calling by default ...

What I quite like about this image is the sense it gives (me at least) of looking out and down the valley. For whatever reason usually we photograph upstream and/or so close you don’t feel the stream dropping away from you. Here because of the gap in the vegetation and valley - you actually feel it.

The way the light hit on the snow - had to make this one a black and white. Saw the clouds drifting and hoped it would line up. Quite happy with just how moody it is. #norway

It’s such a fun thing to spot the moon rising as a spontaneous surprise. This delightful moment was a very lucky bit of timing I stumbled upon while winding my way up to one of Norway’s most iconic passes. You never realize just how fast the moon moves until you go to try and photograph it.

Then they grew. And grew. Until this moment. As a photographer, these are the moments where you just wanna shout Eureka and jump for joy. #Iceland April, 2025.

My hope was to catch the northern lights over this waterfall but, of course, the question was always there – would the clouds come in or with the light show up? Then, as I set up and slowly took photos of the waterfall, the lights began to bloom.

This was one of those rolls of the dice that paid off. I had to park at the street and walk the couple hundred meters down to the parking lot because the dirt road was so full of potholes that my little street car couldn’t navigate it without bottoming out.

In total about 350 color images and 250 B&W from the trip. Next up? The editing begins on Norway and then eventually China and Taiwan. As always thanks for letting me know what resonates.

Whew! I just uploaded the final batch of edits from my Iceland trip last April. Ending with a series of images from the absolutely magical Bruarfoss. While I’ll continue to share edited excerpts here, the full resolution albums (color plus black and white) are up on my flickr. #iceland #sonyalpha

The wind struck me in waves, pressing my body forward and pelting me with a sandpaper like fine barrage of beach sand. The black sand beach was swept clean of footprints and the waves struggled toward the shore. #Iceland | April 2025.

Iceland or cowboy country? I’d say that about 95% of the time power lines are the bane of a photographer’s existence - but - once every so often they actually contribute. One thing you definitely notice is who has above vs underground powerlines. #iceland April, 2025.
