Many things are blahhhhh but today I hung out a little bit with a kindergartener with whom I will get to spend even more time on Saturday, and that was Good.

Wisps of white clouds in a blue sky, tinged pink
#EasterSkies Day 15: hint of pink at the beginning of sunset
Very gray, flat sky between two houses, some green showing on the tree tops
#EasterSkies Day 14 (posting a day late): graaay
Now for the men.
OU!!!!! ❤️🤍❤️🤍
Oh this is very good, I will keep this in mind.
The similar involvement in things and teaching perspectives are definitely part of what's happening here, too!
Until recently my hair was 18 inches longer than hers, though, and that didn't seem to help... at some level, from the front, I think people just process "hair past shoulders"
Ooh. We talked a couple of times about switching coreq sections when we were teaching the same course last fall, but the timing didn't work. We'll have to make sure things are scheduled to allow this in the future.
This is not an exhaustive list 😅.
Kind if wondering what ways there are to use this for benevolent chaos...
People keep mixing up a colleague and me:
-A former student of hers thought he took that class from me.
-When she got tenure, someone congratulated me.
-This week, someone asked her why she wasn't teaching Applied Stats in the fall, a class I always teach but am taking a break from.
#MathsToday Felt underprepared for talking with Math of Climate students about attribution, but they asked great questions! And I'm excited to see their projects soon.
Also figured out all the camera setup for my first participants in a study that it feels like I've been working towards for ages.
Lots of clouds, mix of white and gray, some tall, over green grass, spring trees, and red brick buildings
#EasterSkies Day 13: good chunks of this week felt like this
A laptop, colored pencils, folders, papers, and a pen
The "Significance" Writing Competition is open!

Man imagine if Columbia had just already agreed to this when they were building that residential building that pretty much abuts that station, presumably it would’ve been much easier to do this as part of that building….

hasn't done floor all season? No problem, AA champion
Emma Slevin clinching it *again*
Minnesota!!!!!
#MathsToday lots of great math and data-y presentations at the Undergrad Research Conference today, and some math and data students doing excellent presentations in other disciplines, too!
*so* close for Georgia
Very foggy gray sky, with a large brick building, a street intersection, and a parking lot. A green smokestack disappears into the fog.
#EasterSkies Day 12: the smokestack again, but foggy
Blue sky with many kinds of white clouds. Tops of trees, some light poles, and the green Fitchburg State smokestack are visible
#EasterSkies Day 11: clouds at the end of the workday
#MathsToday Not my best facilitation of a Central Limit Theorem lesson, but some groups had good conversations bringing together what they had noticed in different simulations. I think I at least convinced the students that the simulation-based inference we've been doing is better than normal-based.
but also the kind of day in Applied Stats when I had some regrets about not randomizing groups
#MathsToday: Principles of Data Analysis -- comparing some linear regression models and talking about making choices among them with different goals and approaches! Also another student visualization presentation.
Light blue in the sky with yellow at the horizon, looking west down a road with cars, houses, and trees
#EasterSkies Day 10: sunset
They were in the same classroom, too 😅
#MathsToday Confidence intervals for means in both stats classes! With classical models in one class, with bootstrapping in the other.
Trees, power lines, and a blue sky with occasional white clouds, but tinged by being taken through an old and slightly dirty window, with train light reflections near the top.
#EasterSkies Day 9: As seen through a train window
Gray sky with the tops of bare trees in the woods
#EasterSkies Day 8: gray evening after a beautiful spring day
