Yes! I have "face-blindness" so I often struggle to recognize even people I'm familiar with. Alt text is great for giving necessary context.
As someone who often needs alt text, I assure you it matters. It can make a huge difference for me, and I always appreciate it. And sometimes I find it a pain to add, too, when I'm posting, even though I know what's it's like to count on it and not have it. I get it, lol.
I have found so many great hidden moments in alt text. I always check it. You never know what easter eggs you'll find. Also, the alt text has a HUGE character limit, so there can be so much more detailed info than main posts.
I love alt text.
