Over 100 letters and documents have been found in relation to the events of the Yamashiro Ikki (山城国一揆; 1485-1493) during the early Sengoku period.
It is rare for so many to be found together all at once, opening up big doors to research.

It holds the famous line that Saigō Takamori disliked photographs. Its existence was known due to being referenced in 1927 before the letter disappeared.
In the postscript, he described the photographic portrait as "ugly".
It's been graded as a first-class historical document.

A 1872 letter by Saigō Takamori (西郷隆盛) has resurfaced after a century. It was written to
Ōkubo Toshimichi (大久保利通) who was overseas in the United States and being detailed on the recent situation in Japan to stay in the loop at the time.
