Haunting.
The push for age verification requirements for operating systems is bullshit. It’s worth your time to read why.

Yikes. Bad news for @microsoft.com and especially bad news for claiming FedRAMP means anything.
Picard engineering tip: Maintenance of existing systems is just as important as building new capabilities.
Reaper still does the super cool thing of asking if you want to pay and then just letting you use the software. Pay them eventually, but in the short term, you can just make music.
Likely the bay area. Oakland gas is $5.50 or so right now.
If you played Trust and Safety Tychoon, you know ignoring a legit court order ends your game immediately.
I appreciate Proton's response to this. Their email systems are useful to organizers and mutual aid groups that are often subject to harassment and surveillance. Not perfect, but good..
You can rinse it if it's too salty. It then becomes more of a cooking ingredient, but still fermented and good.
Why would anybody do that?!?!?!?!
The Hershey ones were fantastic. I never did try the others, but the cookies and cream ones look fun.
When I say I'm outdoorsy, this is what I'm talking about.
I mean... they're just saying it internally instead of pretending it's not mass surveillance. boingboing.net/2026/02/18/r...
Isn't this the plot of that King Missile song?
A black rectangular storage disc with a curved top. Label says jaz 1gb. There are lines for writing information about what is on the disc. There is an iomega logo at the bottom.
A blue rectangular storage disc with a metal slider on top. Label says zip 100. There is an iomega logo at the bottom corner.
Any strong feelings on the jaz or zip disc?
In this household we will be replacing Discord with Polycom VSX Video Coneference Phones running over 512K worth of ISDN connections.
Great work here. While you may be interested in using Gen AI features, having them forced on you by default is now how tech is adopted.
At a time when dvled video walls are often only 1080, need for 8k for noon technical use seems a long way off
Sort of. A lot of it is discussing how to advance your career internally and how we can help - getting wins in place, improving support numbers, etc. Everyone wins :) #avintheam #avtweeps #avmsp
Very little to most folks. Unless you're a data scientist, some platform will do it for you. SDMs and sales will worry about the rest. #avintheam
I've been so frustrated with this industry, seen PE money come in, workers abused, leadership and professional orgs be self serving. I've wanted to walk away many times. I want people coming in to know they should have an exit strategy. #avintheam
TBH, I'd rather get someone who has low voltage, networking, or programming ability than someone trained in AV. I think it's better for a worker to be able to step away from the industry and have the skills to do so. #avintheam #avtweeps
Even then, I find a lot of AV customers to be immature in their needs. They don't know what metrics they want, aren't planning far into the future, etc. I do a lot of coaching in addition to delivering service. #avintheam
Hiring methods also remove any idea of a person's actual skills are and ruduces you to your technical skills. Resumes are judged in keywords, cover letters are optimized by LLMs to the job role. It's not the fault of applicants, it's what employers have put in to make hiring easier. #avintheam
Depends on the role. A level 1 support person can grow technically but needs soft skills with a non technical customer. Good technical skills still go a long way and you will have trouble without them. Even in sales, the more you know, the better you'll be to your customers. #avintheam #avtweeps
Agreed. It's really dependent. I've got a broad skill set that let's me adapt to a lot of situations, but I often need sometime who has some deep knowledge to solve specific problems. If you have a passion, dive deep! If you love to learn, learn a lot! #avintheam #avtweeps
Also don't put a tomato in the fridge. It ruins it!
.... What happens if you put a tomato in a drawer, under a head of lettuce, like most people?
Is 8K going to become common before refresh cycles change AV over IP products? I don't see that happening any time soon. 4K is just now locking in for the long haul.
