Important article, but shame it doesn't include a mention of public interest journalism

"The path forward requires a fundamental shift in how we define public health “work.” Leaders must decide to fund communication as essential infrastructure..."

During the week I saw Leo Sayer perform. He’s still sounding terrific! I’m sure many will remember this song. 🎶

I was in Sydney Circular Quay yesterday & am on leave. It is possible to witness & experience horror & trauma in the world, along with beauty & joy at the same time. Make some time for yourself to experience some joy. I’ll be offline on & off over the next few weeks. 👋🏽😀

Some of these sunshine yellow flowers are still opening up. The small birds, finches I think, love them & were moving about & inspecting the flowers. Sometimes observing the simple pleasures gives me much joy. May you have some joy in your day, even a little. 🌼👋🏽😀

The Callistemon in my neighbourhood is putting on a show. They often go unnoticed by some people & some birds, because they’re quite common in some parts of Australia. Check out the Callistemon in your neighbourhood soon. 🌺🌿👋🏽

Sometimes a cup of tea & a biscuit on fine china can feel like a pleasurable feast! My tea was English Breakfast & my biscuit a brutti ma buoni - Italian almond biscotti & meringue-based cookie, which is GF (this one is based on egg whites, almond, sugar & a little GF flour).

Good to catch up with scholars & community members attending the Australian Research Council (ARc) project gathering for The Great Exhibitions & their Lost Indigenous Objects, which discussed Aboriginal objects sent overseas in the 1800s & early 1900s. Thanks UQ’s Anthropology Museum for the invite.

Warm thanks Doctors for Nutrition for advertising with Croakey.org + supporting independent media. As @bronfredericks.bsky.social & others write, this is a very practical way the health sector can help support public interest journalism as a public health good.
